This is a MA Trainee position through the Building Bridges Program under the Future Ready Oregon Workforce Development Grant. This is a 9-month 0.75 FTE, paid position that includes clinical support responsibilities as well as formal and informal educational experiences. Successful completion of the Medical Assistant training program will typically result in an offer of employment as a Medical Assistant at OHSU.
During the course of the training program, the MAT performs a variety of clerical, clinical support or technical assignments of duties involving many different and unrelated processes, methods and tasks as instructed by clinic leadership. Will include direct patient interactions. Works closely with and reports to clinic leadership and provides assistance with clinic and office tasks. Supports the activities of the clinic and works effectively with all clinic staff. Requires working in a confidential atmosphere, handling many complex projects at one time. Knowledge of and familiarity with OHSU facilities, resources, and personnel.

Function/Duties of PositionClinical Support under supervision

Clerical Support
Able to assist and perform all clerical duties as required to maintain clinic flow and operations, including, but not limited to;Process incoming/outgoing faxes (labeling, records requests, upload refill requests, etc.)General high level clerical and project supportProcess InBasket (records requests, labs, imaging, message routing, etc.)Patient paperwork management (questionnaires, FMLA, provider signatures, no-show letters, etc.)Track and stock patient paperwork and brochuresProcess incoming/outgoing mailUse of Microsoft Office - OutlookDocument legibly, concisely and accurately Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, AND Acceptance in the Building Bridges program for MA Training Fluency in written and spoken English. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Excellent telephone communication skills.Active BLS/CPR within six weeks of hire and then maintained without interruption.
