Building Engineering MEP Department Manager

As a result, a full-time position is available for a Department Manager to lead our Building Engineering MEP team. This role is open to the following locations: Madison, WI; Wauwatosa, WI, Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; Orlando, FL; or Tampa FL. Primary Responsibilities include: Supervise, Manage, and Mentor Department Staff Lead and develop the team, fostering a high-performance culture. Evaluate department staff; conduct employee performance appraisals and assist with creation and execution of employees’ professional development plans Project Management Oversee the successful execution of projects, ensuring they meet client expectation and are delivered on time and within budget. Manage projects and/or provide technical oversight Market and obtain projects, including proposal writing, handling "cold calls" on existing and potential clients, presentations, and interviews Negotiate and administer contracts Review and approve budgets for projects and monitor project performance and profitability Review and approve billing each month; prepare reports for billing Oversee Staff and Recruitment Identify department needs and work with HR to recruit a highly performing team. Assign work to staff and monitor workload Plan and effectively utilize general time to advance the quality and efficiency of the department Coordinate, evaluate, and recommend department staff training Client Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with clients Company Management Functions - Coordinate department operations with the business unit leader Visualize growth areas related to the department Work with business unit leader regarding strategic planning for the department Work with other departments within Mead & Hunt to coordinate work and staff assignments Coordinate with the business unit leader or group leader to develop and monitor annual business plan for the department Maintain personal licenses, memberships, registrations, and review/seal documents as required Keep up to date on relevant technical and management issues related to the technical discipline as well as management of a department Other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have any/all the following: Bachelor of Science in Architectural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering At least 10 years of relevant experience Demonstrated leadership skills Goal-oriented, collaborative, team-player Strong written and verbal communications skills Proven technical excellence Successful track record of client and task management including financial performance, and business development At Mead & Hunt we shape the future by putting people first. Salary Range: $160,000 to $215,000 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
