Building Maintenance Overview Date Posted: 3/5/2025 Job Code: STAFF Location: LECOM Bradenton Dental School Address: 4800 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard City: Bradenton State: FL Country: United States of America Category: Service Employment Status: Full-time Description JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of maintenance and repair work requiring the knowledge of one or more skilled trades (e.g., construction, painting, electrical, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, automotive or small equipment repair service…etc.) under the general support of the Director of Operations and Operations Manager to help maintain the Institution for students, faculty/staff, and the general public in safe and operating condition, and help on preventive maintenance programs as assigned. CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : + Perform visual inspections of facilities, and grounds for cleanliness and possible repair needs as directed by supervisor. + Uses company-provided tools and test devices used to adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment. + Help to maintain the functionality of the buildings. + Help install a variety of items and/or system components (e.g., cabinetry, doors and hardware, classroom and office equipment, + Help maintain tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating conditions. + Operation of LECOM owned or leased vehicles for the use of the transportation of materials, learning resources, other LECOM personnel and guests in a safe operating manner. + Perform a variety of light duty vehicle exterior and interior maintenance. + Set up and removal of equipment (property) for LECOM sponsored events, both onsite and away from the Institution, which may take place on several evenings and weekends. + Various grounds work will be performed on an as needed basis (e.g., light pruning, trash/debris removal. + Various housekeeping work will be performed on an as needed basis (e.g., spill or leak clean up, mark, scuff and dirt removal, etc.). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and experience equivalent to: Education: High School diploma and/or equivalent required. Experience: Job related experience within facilities or equipment maintenance fields is helpful. License: Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds without assistance. Team lifting maybe required from time to time. Specific vision abilities include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee is responsible for performing duties in an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment.
