Job Description SummaryAssist with urgent and routine repairs and maintenance to Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, to insure that our patients receive quality and safe care by following policy and procedure of the Plant Operations Department, Southeast Health, state and local codes. Perform call duty task when assigned by Shift Engineer Supervisor. Assist with preventive maintenance (PM) that is required for areas. Complete work requestors generated manually and/or by computer in a timely manner to assure customer satisfaction.
Job DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS:High School graduate or equivalent;At least three years’ experience preferred in one of the required maintenance fields, electrical, plumbing, medical gases, HVAC and/or graduation from technical school in one of the maintenance fields;General computer knowledge;Ability to read and understand diagram blueprints;Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes;Work rotating shifts and weekends;Valid drivers’ license.    

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing;Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation;Must be able to promote positive behavior in others;Ability to utilize the internet, intranet and e-mail;Ability to utilize radio and paging system. 

SKILLS:

Maintain accurate maintenance records on each piece of equipment for which the department is responsible for using an Equipment Management System documenting the prompted information according to policy;Complete all assigned work requestors generated manually and/or by computer in a timely manner insuring patient, visitor and hospital personnel satisfaction, for the facility and outlying clinics and document prompted information in the Work Requestor Program (Work Order System);Make minor adjustments on pneumatic tube system, TVs and nurse call on all shifts, weekends and holidays to ensure minimal inconvenience to patients, visitors and hospital personnel;Maintain a professional appearance and attitude following policy and procedures of Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, wearing proper ID badge at all times.
