Title: Building Mechanic
Location: Niagara Falls, NY
Shift: 4 - 10hr shifts
Salary: $36.00 / hour to start and $40-$41 per hour after training completion and dependent on schedule
Focus: This position is responsible for building, repairing and maintaining buildings and general equipment throughout the plant. The Building Mechanic has the primary responsibility to execute building maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient, and effective way according to the job package. Individuals working in this role will be required to work in both field and shop environments.
Essential Functions:
Performs rough and finish carpentry and construction work, including building and paneling walls and partitions, designing and installing countertops, constructing cabinets and bookcases, as well as repairing furniture, installing suspended ceilings, hanging and finishing drywall, repairing door frames and hanging doors.
Performs insulation of building and pipelines, as required.
Performs interior and exterior painting, including repairing and preparing walls for painting and applying various types of paint. May require use of ladders.
Moves desks, tables and other office furniture.
Operates a motor vehicle to deliver supplies, pick up freight, and make other deliveries.
Operates trucks with plows to remove snow from plant walkways and parking lots. Operates snow blowers to clean snow from sidewalks. Shovels entrances and other areas inaccessible to power equipment. Operates trucks with salt spreader.
Uses tools, equipment and materials such as hand and power tools.
Participates in safety meetings and training activities. Follows established safety and operating procedures and practices.
Works with minimum supervision.
Errors in work could result in loss of production at a substantial cost. Errors could result in serious damage to machines, equipment, and environment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Errors could result in fines or litigation awards of substantial amount, due to environmental or product liability issues. Necessity of continuous operation demands cooperation, teamwork and close attention.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GEDMinimum of five years maintenance work experience with carpentry and/or insulation (industrial setting preferred) or Journeyman level designation in one or both of these crafts (both preferred).
