Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an ambitious, hardworking and innovative candidate to fill a Building Operator opening for work at a client site in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This individual would be responsible for ensuring the functionality of the building, infrastructure, equipment, and fixtures that are necessary to the successful operation of the business. They will work in a team environment that oversees the safe, secure and environmentally sound operations and maintenance of these assets in a cost-effective manner.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Maintain and update materials and equipment inventoriesAbility to plan, schedule and control costs for projects that fall within their controlResponsible for supervision of skilled workers (Sub-Contractors) in such maintenances as generators, elevators, air conditioning, plumbing, and electricalInterface with internal and external customers ensuring effective communications regarding status and priority of workInspect completed workWalkthrough, inspection and condition reporting of all areas of a facilityResponsible for the efficient, effective, and successful control of all equipment maintenance, building structures, and property in accordance with approved practices, procedures, and methodsKeeping accurate and up-to-date logs and record readings, maintenance and repair workPerform all types of general building maintenance and repairsKnowledge of and ability to perform work and repairs on: Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system and associated systems (belt and filter replacements);Plumbing systems (Isolate and repair minor leaks, assist plumbers);Electrical systems (bulb replacements, fixture changes, emergency light testing and repair);Generator Systems (basic testing, filter changes);Architectural Systems (drywall and painting, flooring, basic carpentry); andAll other building systems necessary for the operation of the site Perform corrective maintenance of the Technical SystemsPerform planned Preventive Maintenance of the Technical Systems (i.e. belts, filters, pumps, etc)Submit monthly performance reports detailing site activityAdherence to and implementation of health, safety, quality control and environmental policies and programs
