Building Science Technician (Experienced)

Braun Intertec is seeking an experienced Building Science Technician to join our Lenexa, KS location.

Responsibilities:

Work type and involvement will vary but consist primarily of performing field services for the following areas:Building envelope observations and assessments, component constructability, materials analysis and field testing services to include, but not limited to:  Blower door testing; windows testing; air barrier testing; roofing observations; EIFS inspection; ELD waterproofing system testing.Collect and test construction materials samples in a variety of different structures (i.e. buildings, parking structures, etc.) by using the some of following methods:  Coring; Ground penetrating radar; Anchor tests; Floor flatness; Non-destructive testing; and other test methods and work as apparent or assignedAssist with maintaining and handling equipment for projects.Providing field reports to project managers and clients, as required.Mentoring from and working with licensed architects/engineers.Will need to learn procedures and gain experience with ICC, NFPA, ADA, ASTM, ANSI, AAMA/FGIA and other standards, including those certifications therein, as required.

Required Skills:

Good written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentMechanically inclinedTravel out of town up to 50% of the timeAbility to lift minimum 50 pounds. The employee will need to have the ability to walk through a project or jobsite, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, carry, touch and climb. This can be in a combination of tightly enclosed areas, or on ladders, lifts and scaffolding.  At times the job can be physically demanding and involves interior and exterior work in all weather conditions.

Required Experience:

Preferred minimum 2-year Associates Degree in Construction related field.Preferred minimum 2-years of construction work-related experienceComputer proficiency. MS Office applications, AutoCAD skills a plus.Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record.

Compensation Range:

$48,000.00 - $72,000.00
