Bus Driver/Operator/Rhino Driver-Dip Pouch
The Diplomatic Pouch Transport Truck Driver will be based at the Baghdad Embassy Compound in Baghdad, Iraq and serve the Baghdad Life Support Services (BLiSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for operating transportation and cargo vehicles in a safe and professional manner and considerable knowledge of the job is required. This position will report to the BLiSS Logistics Manager and Transportation Supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. **DUTIES:** + Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. + Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. + Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. + Operate transportation vehicles in a safe and professional manner, including but not limited to express vans, semi tractors with 40-foot trailers, 3–5-ton trucks, and light vehicles and passenger vans. + Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on all equipment. + Complete understanding of all aspects and technical phases of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. + Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in optimal working condition, reporting any mechanical issues immediately. + Keep up to date with route changes, security threats, or other factors that may affect the safe delivery of diplomatic pouches. + Support the RSO in coordination with the TOC for any ground movement support to BDSC as necessary. + Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding the status of deliveries and any potential delays. + Participate in ongoing training related to safety and security protocols, emergency procedures, and vehicle operations. + Adhere to all established safety and security procedures and protocols for handling diplomatic pouches to ensure the safety and confidentiality of materials. + Support the waste management team by operating dump trucks, water trucks, septic waste trucks, shuttle bus, airfield sweeper and handling other assigned tasks as needed. + Attend daily safety training to ensure up to date knowledge of safety protocols and practices relevant to diplomatic pouch operations and vehicle handling. + Participate in monthly On-the-Job training (OJT) focused on diplomatic pouch operations and any updates to security or operational protocols. + Assist in routine vehicle maintenance and cleanliness, ensuring the vehicle is always in good condition for the next transport. + **Performing additional duties and projects as assigned.** **REQUIRED:** + **Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:** 5+ Years, with Accident-Free Driving and Operation Record + **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** Expected abilities of a Professional, Experienced and CDL, Tractor Trailer (Semi-Truck) Operator, with regards to various equipment, Load and Cargo management + **Education:** High School Diploma or equivalent is required. + **Licenses and Certifications:** + Must be able to pass an onsite driving test administered by DCP. + Currently in possession of **Active HOR CDL** , up-to-date DOT Physical, Hazmat and Multi-Passenger/Bus endorsement **Are ALL A MUST** + **Security Vetting:** Must possess an active DOD or DOS Secret Security Clearance and maintain eligibility for the duration of the contract. + **Language Skills:** Strong, professional, oral, and written English communication skills. + **Medical:** Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination. **OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:** + Knowledge of all principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility. + Experience providing excellent customer services. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. + Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective + Excellent organizational and time management skills + Solid computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel + Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. + Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. + Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information. **DESIRED:** + HAZMAT endorsement on Commercial drivers’ license (CDL). + Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus. + Experience working with Amentum. **WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS** **:** This position may be in a war zone, or an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50- 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
