A Glimpse of the Job
The Business Administrator II, under direction of the Assistant Dean for Business Services, is responsible for all accounting functions within the department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development. These responsibilities include providing managerial expertise for departmental operations and advising on financial, budgetary, and accounting matters to departmental leadership and the college. Collects and reports on budgetary and expense data necessary to enhance decision-making. Manages fiscal planning activities for the department. Responsible for overseeing departmental business operations and employees.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Financial Administration
+ Administers all financial activity in the department.
+ Serve as approver of vouchers & requisitions.
+ Serve as primary contact for department head on all financial matters.
+ Prepare and maintain operating budgets.
+ Provides advice to the department head and program chairs regarding fiscal operations.
+ Provides guidance on university rules and regulations to ensure fiscal compliance.
+ Creates and provides annual budgets for program chairs.
+ Prepares complex monthly and annual financial reports.
+ Develops complex financial and statistical analysis and summaries.
+ Audits unit business procedures and practices.
+ Serves as financial liaison to the Assistant Dean for Business Services and provides quarterly financial statements, reports, and strategic initiatives to the Assistant Dean for Business Services
+ Implements and audits business procedures and trains staff, faculty, students, and administrators on new and existing financial procedures
+ Serve as Financial manager for departmental symposiums and events.
Fiscal Compliance and Year-End
+ Administers fiscal activities, including year-end closing activities, regular budget updates and purchasing activities.
+ Resolves operational and procedural financial problems.
+ Serves as Liaison to other campus partners, including FMO, Purchasing, and the TAM Foundation.
Supervision
+ Supervises, trains, and mentors Business Coordinator and student worker(s).
Scholarships and Texas A&M Foundation Administration
+ Manage and oversee TAMF accounting for departmental gifts and scholarship accounts. Oversees compliance with EAHR donor agreements.
+ Administers departmental scholarships.
+ Responsible for student tuition administration for the department.

Required Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Six years of related experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Eight years of related experience in business or accounting operations.
+ Experience with FAMIS, AggieBuy, Emburse Expense, Maestro, Compass, Flywire, Workday, Business Objects, Laserfiche.
+ Supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
+ Interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Planning and organizational skills.
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements and Factors
+ This position is security sensitive.
