General Description

Responsible for analyzing and modeling existing business processes and application functionalities. The goal of business process analysis is to understand and document current business procedures and application functionalities and identify areas for improvement. A thorough understanding of the current state of the organization or application is necessary prior to recommending changes related to implementing a new business solution. Is also responsible for evaluating proposed features and improvements received from other business units for our managed applications.  The BA will create an impact analysis including possible ROI / Savings to be used as supporting documentation for prioritization decisions for our feature backlog.

 

Responsible for the integrity of the requirements from beginning to end. The redaction and validation of the user stories and the definition of done in each sprint; uses modeling tools to document the current state of business processes as well as the desired future state in the form of requirements, user stories and activity diagrams. The business analyst is responsible for the knowledge transfer of business implications to the application/database developers, Product Owners, Quality Assurance Analysts, and project managers.  Will also include metrics embedded into every new initiative and is responsible for having those metrics included in divisions analytics for the ongoing feature performance monitoring.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and support business solutions. Understand and interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Develop a strong understanding of the end-to end reporting processes, including production critical path and dependencies on associated business processes, to identify gaps and opportunities for improvements and then specify changes Ensure adherence to development standards to ensure fit for purpose solutions delivered that are robust and where necessary scalable. Elicit User Stories – Conduct interviews, workshops, focus groups, brainstorming, observations, and surveys/questionnaires with stakeholders to determine the requirements needed for a new project. User Stories Handshake – Coordinate and document the acceptance and understanding of all stakeholders including the vendors with the Business Requirement Document. Gain detailed understanding of current capabilities, gaps and opportunities streamlining for efficiencies and improving customer experience. Help create competitive differentiation for Popular Inc.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Business Administration.

Experience ​At least 3 years of Banking experience in either Business Analysis, Data/Analytics, Product Management or Operations. Certifications / Licenses (Nice to have) Business Analyst CertificationPMPMicrosoft Certified Professional (MCP)Other Qualifications Proficient in planning discovery activities, mapping business processes, eliciting requirements, and writing user stories. Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency of MS Office suite is a must – in particularly in Visio, Excel, Word and PowerPoint Excellent knowledge of Scrum, Agile, SAFe, DevOps, and technology such as Jira and Confluence. Salesforce implementation experience across the whole Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is a plus. Experience in managing projects and cross functional initiatives is a plus. Experience working with development teams is required.
