Business Analyst (Business & Operational Efficiency)

This role is not technical in nature and is dedicated exclusively to addressing non-technical business process and operational challenges. The ideal candidate will play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues within business operations, supporting smoother workflows and enhanced efficiency. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of process improvement, enabling the candidate to implement practical solutions that enhance business performance without relying on technical expertise.

What You'll Do

Elicit, document and track requirements for changes to business processes, policies, information, and information systems for intermediate level business problems.

Develop and elicit requirements for departmental and some corporate projects as requested by internal/external customers; prepare business and functional requirements. 

Communicate and validate requirements with stakeholders and identified SMEs.

Collaborate with project teams to adhere to solution scope and maintain requirements traceability.

Support and execute business readiness activities including the communication plan to support changes to technology resources, processes and people.

Develop new procedures, specifications for system changes or recommendations for product and/or process changes.  Facilitate the implementation of changes with management and staff.

Design customer feedback mechanisms to gather ongoing information about business processes. Analyze results and creates plans to address weaknesses.

Develop and maintain reporting tools for use in measuring business area performance against metrics/industry benchmarks and ensuring data integrity and systems stability in support of operations management.

Provide timely and accurate access to data, distribute reports and present/explain results to business area supported as well as to other BCBSNC areas.  Work with trainers to develop training programs that target problem areas.

Use industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, use-case analysis, workflow analysis, business process mapping, functional decomposition analysis/or financial ROI modeling for initiatives that are at an intermediate level. 

Support business vendor relationships by documenting business issues, determining project needs, and supporting training as needed.

Perform peer reviews of less experienced analysts’ work as needed. 

What You'll Bring (Hiring Requirements)

Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)

3+ years of experience in related field.

In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field.

Demonstrated experience in analyzing and improving business processes and operational workflows.

Familiarity with project management principles and applications.

Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness in non-technical areas.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Salary Range
