You are a Business Analyst with a strong focus on FinOps, functioning primarily as a Financial Analyst. With deep expertise in cloud cost optimization, cloud technologies, and cost management tools, you use data-driven insights and analytical skills to identify opportunities for improving cloud efficiency. You excel at communicating complex financial information to both technical and non-technical teams, ensuring that cloud strategies are aligned with broader business goals.
What you'll do:
You will analyze cloud spending to identify optimization opportunities and trends. By collaborating with stakeholders, you’ll align cloud strategies with business objectives and drive cost efficiency. You’ll focus on using data and analytical tools to uncover insights that will help reduce cloud costs and improve financial performance across the organization.
How you'll make an impact
Analyze large datasets from cloud billing data to extract meaningful insights into cloud consumption patterns, cost drivers, and variances.
Lead data analysis of cloud expenditure to identify trends, anomalies, unplanned spikes, and investigate root cause of variances while improving processes to prevent recurring issues.
Identify cost optimization strategies, including rightsizing resources, leveraging discounts, and optimizing usage patterns.
Work closely with cloud infrastructure, software engineers, product managers and other business stakeholders to understand requirements, drive cost accountability, and communicate financial insights effectively.
Foster a culture of cost accountability among teams by staying updated on cloud’s evolving service offerings, trends, pricing models, and driving implementation of FinOps best practices to enhance efficiency.
Develop and maintain clear, concise reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs), cloud spending trends, and cost optimization efforts. Utilize tools like PowerBI or Superset to present data in a compelling and accessible way.
Provide strategic reports on show back models, business metrics (Unit costs, resource usage, etc.) with recommendations that drive realization of cloud value
Collaborate across teams to develop accurate cloud cost forecasts and budgets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and roadmaps. Prepare models for new initiatives and influencing business decisions.
What you'll bring to the role5+ years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, and cost management, with at least 2+ years specifically focused on cloud environments
Proven experience writing complex and efficient SQL queries to extract and analyze data from large datasets.
Strong understanding of cloud billing models and cost optimization levers.
Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Superset).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Exceptional communication skills and ability to tell a story with numbers
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their cost management tools.
Experience with Public cloud financial tools and cost management software
FinOps or Cloud Service Provider certification is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Science, or a related field preferred, work experience in related field may be substituted
