Business Analyst - News Production, Reuters

Our organization drives the rapidly evolving and strategic technology initiatives of the world's most trusted news organization, Reuters News. The successful candidate will provide business and technical analysis to help drive the delivery of our technology solutions. They will work on identifying, defining, and building capabilities that add value to our editorial tools and services, which support the entire editorial workflow for Reuters News journalists around the globe. The candidate must have excellent technical and analytical skills, as well as be self-motivated, keen to learn new skills and willing to take initiative to get things done.

As a Business Analyst - News Production you will be an integral part of the software development life cycle.  Your responsibilities will include analysis, design, testing, support and maintenance of the News Technology products and platforms.  You will be expected to become a subject matter expert for specific implementations and tools.  Projects will include implementing new features and expanding the product offering for existing clients, as well as ensuring proper functioning of existing functionalities.

Capture and articulate software requirements by understanding client’s needs and goalsVisually represent business and software processes through process mapsCreate testing strategies and test cases (positive and negative)Design user flows for new applications and visually represent themWrite user stories following agile principlesCreate customer journeys and personasCollect, analyze, and synthesize data; create reports and dashboardsCollaborate closely with Development, QA, DevOps and Project Management teams when needed, to ensure all requirements are understood and can be delivered effectivelyIdentify project and development dependencies and line-up deliveries appropriately

About You

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to deconstruct activities into manageable tasksProficiency in writing and testing functional and non-functional software requirementsAbility to quickly learn new subject areas and apply technology solutions to themStrong knowledge of data analysis and data visualization techniques and tools (Tableau, Power BI)Experience in latest AI technologies is highly advantageous (Gen AI, NLP, ML, Data Mining)Experience working with Figma and project management software like Jira/ADO/TrelloProficiency with Miro, Lucidchart, or equivalent tools is advantageousExperience in a Business analyst/Product management roleExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a mustAbility to work with virtual/geographically dispersed and multi-cultural teams, in various time zonesExperience with Agile software development is preferredAbility to work on multiple tasks and projects and prioritize as requiredDrive, initiative, and the ability to work unsupervised when requiredSQL and Programming languages experience is an advantage but not requiredExposure to news / media industry is highly advantageous

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $80,640 - $149,760. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
