Business Analyst - Project Execution Analyst
Summary of Position The Business Analyst role is critical to the expanding strategy of the group as the position is expected to leverage problem-solving, communication, and process design to advance industry leading, in-house software systems. The position involves ensuring the company’s most urgent and important software projects are being carried out in an efficient manner and acting as an advocate, point of contact, and internal consultant for our software team (Technical Writers, Developers, QA). The Business Execution Analyst will be expected to establish a deep understanding of the processes and personnel of and become “embedded” within the software development teams. From a position of shared understanding, the Analyst can design solutions to day-to-day problems, identify areas for process improvements, and advocate for their teams throughout the organization. Position Functions The role will have the following main responsibilities: + Controlling the flow of work from the Data and Innovation department to the Software Development department by: + Identifying the priority of updates to make key decisions about what should and shouldn’t be sent + Understanding impact of deviations to Project Plans + Interpreting the various software teams’ bandwidth for a given time period and providing them with tasks to fill gaps + Analyzing and reporting on the progress achieved by the Data & Innovation Department and software teams by: + Creating weekly status reports to inform the business of how things are going from a development standpoint and identify potential pitfalls + Comparing to historical weeks and identifying why more/less progress was made compared to what was anticipated + Adjusting plans for future projects based on findings + Supporting the software teams’ day-to-day work + Understanding and documenting software teams’ processes + Informing Data and Innovation process improvements to alleviate their struggles + Offering creative solutions to their internal issues + Secondary responsibilities include: + Managing individually assigned projects through various stages of its life (Information Gathering/Project Plan, Solution Design, Implementation, Testing) + Leading meetings that include presenting solutions or risks to upper management Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong desire to establish relationships and understand the goals, concerns, and objectives of stakeholders throughout the business. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to contextually switch between technical and plain language. Experience creating process flows, wireframes, decision trees, and other methods of effective visual communication. Excellent comprehension skills to efficiently develop a connected understanding of business processes and goals. This includes learning via informal conversations with company leaders, completed projects, end user interviews, and individual experimentation/replication of issues. Problem solving skills are necessary for this position, as numerous complex scenarios will be directed to the candidate on a daily basis. We are looking for an individual who enjoys getting to the bottom of complex problems and ultimately coming up with effective solutions. Business Analysis Experience a plus Process Diagramming Experience a plus Experience with Business Intelligence platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Domo) a plus Experience with Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and the Agile Methodology a plus There are many routes to being successful within this role and a candidate is not expected to have all of these characteristics. There will be ample time for on-the-job training and learning. In essence, we are looking for a person who is interested in a dynamic role and cultivating a generalist skillset. Other Requirements Bachelor’s degree is required.  Additional business work experience is preferred.  Physical Requirements Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, possess strong written communication skills, and answer and communicate on a telephone. Supervisory Responsibilities None Working Conditions Business-casual fast paced multi-tasking office environment Hours of Operation:  This position works Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 5 days per week.  Falvey has a hybrid work plan and it is preferred that this position be in the Rhode Island office Tuesday-Thursday, however remote employment will be considered.
