The Business Analyst provides general systems consulting, systems analysis, and task leadership related to the acquisition, deployment, and use of computing systems in assigned business areas. Applies knowledge of business, systems and information security to help identify and select possible system solutions. The Business Analyst provides operational expertise to support and continuously improve the performance and reliability of deployed technologies by implementing new processes, procedures, protocols, and workflow. These efforts will also require project management duties to ensure proper execution of large and small projects. The Business Analyst functions as a point of contact and customer service for a variety of systems and is accountable for user satisfaction. As the product lead, the Business Analyst also assist with developing departmental policies and procedures, educate individuals in and outside of the department as it relates the support systems, prepare analytical reports, and make recommendations to management or senior staff.
Responsibilities Manages some or all parts of large and small projects, including new system selection, system implementation, benefit realization, and re-engineering process.Participates in the design, development, and management of information systems, including financial, clinical, and ancillary systems.Provides guidance on the development of business continuity plans as it relates to business operation work flows an procedures; assists with the creation of down time procedures and documentations working with other subject matter experts.Develops and maintains expertise and competence in determining or analyzing needs for automated systems, participates in the development and clarification of user requirements, and aids in system selection processes.Consults and advises users, management, physicians, vendors, and business partners concerning the purpose, features, functions, and proper use of new and existing systems.Helps to identify and recommends new and improved uses of computer applications to enhance current processes, achieve cost advantage, improve customer service, and ensure security safeguards are in place.Conducts system security assessments, manages security remediation projects, and provides recommendations on remediation efforts.Communicates effectively with project sponsors, senior management, functional managers, and/or consultants regarding status of assigned projectsHelps to ensure that all systems and applications are compatible and consistent with organization’s information systems infrastructure and in compliance with established architectural and technical safeguards.Participates in the education and training of staff related to business, information systems, systems analysis, and project management through on-the-job instruction and formal training programs.Develops and maintains an awareness of the healthcare information systems industry, contemporary and emerging technologies, and relevant laws and regulations.Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.Excellent time management and organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects with minimal supervision.Maintain and enhance cooperative interdepartmental and vendor relationships and communications.Attends and participates in meetings, committees, and training sessions as assigned.Participates in hospital committees and workgroups as assigned.Ability to work a flexible schedule and second tier on call.Maintains confidentiality at all times and complies with HIPAA and security compliance guidelines at all times.Perform additional duties as assigned.Ability to provide after-hour IT support.Train Physicians on the EMR system.Help support Lab and Radiology (PACS) systems.Build out EMR ehancements (e-form, flowcharts, order sets) Qualifications At least two years experience as an analyst/coordinator or equivalent business experience in a healthcare environment.Demonstrates leadership aptitude and ability.Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates and superiorsAbility to organize multiple job tasks and work independentlyStrong communication, organization, and project management skills are necessary for this positionExhibits strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external personnelSkills in planning and preparing written communicationDemonstrates flexibility in rapidly changing environmentsAble to work under stressful situationsStrong problem solving skills with well organized and structured work habitsGeneral knowledge of business systems, PCs, collaborative computing tools, information management, general information architectures, systems integration, information security, laws, and regulations.Ability to work with tight deadlines, time pressures and ambiguity.Ability to multi-task and grasp complex environments.Good leadership, supervision, and teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written documentation skills.Must have the ability to speak, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions in English.Strong problem solving and analytical skills.Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
