We are looking for a talented Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL) in the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley area who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that is focused on helping our clients, colleagues, and communities thrive. You are the “seller-doer” accountable for leading top line growth and market position for our transportation practice, while providing exceptional project delivery that exceeds client expectations. Reporting to the Regional Business Leader, you will provide leadership on business development activities to expand our existing client and project base and position the firm to acquire new business. The BCPL is a highly collaborative role working closely with Sector Leaders, Key Account Managers, Team Leads, business developers, project managers, and peers across Stantec’s other Business Lines to identify and manage our key accounts, pursue opportunities, and solicit feedback from clients on our performance. You will partner with the other BC Leaders to lead and manage, inspire and engage, win and do work – building a culturally strong and high performing business. This position is eligible as a hybrid work model, in-person presence is required at our offices (Vancouver or Burnaby) 3 days per week. It is expected that all leadership roles have a maximum term of 5 years, with the opportunity to re-evaluate at the end of the term and for the purpose of succession and company growth. **Your Key Responsibilities** Business Development and Collaboration: You have primary accountability to achieve business centre sales and net revenue objectives for our transportation practice across the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island. You have supporting accountability to the BCOL to achieve established targets for gross margin and operating income for our transportation practice across Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island. Business Planning * You are responsible for developing, managing, and leading implementation of the annual business plan for the Business Centre, including establishing key action plans for Key Accounts and Sectors across Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island * You collaborate with RBL and BC leadership teams to assess potential new markets and analyze business opportunities, contributing directly to regional business strategies. Key Account Management * You directly engage in the development and maintenance of relationships between Stantec, strategic partners, and clients to expand business opportunities. * You lead efforts to zipper additional relationships and connections with key clients. * You lead the advancement of our Key Account Program through direct coaching, mentorship and strategic guidance for Transportation BC Client Managers * You guide BC Client Managers in establishing annual Key Account Management plans and supporting the successful implementation of these plans in collaboration with Key Account Managers. * You are the Key Account Manager for one or more Key Client Accounts across Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island. Pursuit Leadership * You provide appropriate oversight, guidance, review, coaching, and quality control on all opportunities pursued within the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island Transportation Business Centres to achieve sales and competitive capture rate objectives. * You lead significant strategic pursuits for major Business Centre opportunities. * You conduct risk management related to pursuits including review of contracts, fees, and proposals in coordination with other leaders and our risk management team. * You guide collaboration and coordination by contributing business centres, marketing support, and sector leadership to foster engaging, collaborative, and successful pursuits. * You support RBL in identifying Regional Top 20 opportunities, in coordination with regional sectors leads, account managers, team leads, and business developers. Promotion and Brand Stewardship * You increase visibility of Stantec by stewarding the sharing of our knowledge, experience, and subject matter expertise through industry associations, conferences, and direct client engagements to enhance our reputation. * You identify and maintain an annual list of conferences, trade shows, and sponsorships for investment consideration by the BC. Marketing and Business Development Leadership * You manage the BC marketing and business development (M&BD) budget to plan, in coordination with team leaders, key account managers, BC, sector leaders, and RBL. * You participate in go/no-go decisions for larger pursuits in the Business Centre, and track compliance of the go/no-go process across the BC. * You utilize, monitor, and are responsible for maintaining accuracy in the opportunity pipeline using our internal sales management tool, Pipeline. * You are responsible for monitoring M&BD spending, closing expired or unneeded numbers, and communicating expectations for tracking M&BD expenditure within the BC. * You track pursuit success rate and return on investment rate on client-by-client basis. * You support the opportunity component of Net Revenue Forecasts, in collaboration with BCOL. Projects and Practice * You lead or assign responsibility for oversight of project delivery, QAQC, discipline excellence and technical quality, documents quality and best practices in the execution of work. * You actively participate in key projects in roles such as Project Manager, Technical Expert, Independent Technical Reviewer, and Project Sponsor. * You collaborate with team leaders, project managers, and clients to gather feedback and ensure that project delivery is achieving high quality results, making course corrections when necessary. * You become involved at a hands-on level on projects should issues impacting client satisfaction or project management best practices escalate. People Leadership: * Support BCOL with developing, attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent. * Participate in regular office and BC Wide meetings to communicate the vision, business strategy and progress against applicable action plans. * Support the overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching, and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development for the BC. * You establish employee connectedness to leadership by interfacing frequently with employees. **Your Capabilities and Credentials** * A history of establishing and maintaining client relationships in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver Island market. * Strong ability to develop business and promote business relationships. * Strong ability to motivate staff and promote teamwork within and across offices. * Excellent organization, coordination, management, and leadership skills. * Demonstrated technical leadership in Transportation. * Results oriented individual who excels in a multi-disciplinary environment. * Strong project planning and delivery experience. * Excellent verbal and written communication. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software. * Licensed Professional Engineer preferred. * Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. **Education and Experience** Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related relevant field. Licensed Professional Engineer preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience. Position will primarily work in an office setting; it may require travel.
