Business Communications Writer, Amazon Talent Acquisition

The Amazon Talent Acquisition (ATA) business operations (BizOps) team is looking for a customer- and employee-obsessed Business Communications Writer with demonstrated ability to produce high-visibility, high-impact documents and communications around projects and complex problems. The ideal candidate is detail oriented with excellent editing, time management, and communication skills. You will bring a critical eye to insist on the highest standards for our business customers. You will collaborate with fellow editors and internal business partners (such as program managers, UI designers, and software development engineers) to refine and bar raise content.
You perform all levels of edits, from structural editing to copyediting to proofreading. With some guidance from peers or your manager, you will edit content deliverables for different domains and channels. For example, you may edit business review summaries or compose internal wiki updates. You adjust your edits to align with the goals and styles of the different content types.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate on-going curiosity and creativity, balanced with the ability to distill numerous inputs/ideas into meaningful actions and recommendations. You must have strong analytical capabilities and a process improvement mentality, demonstrating the ability to work well and influence strategically at both the team level and in large, cross-functional environments.
The screening process for this interview will include writing samples.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop briefs for key meetings with inputs from departmental teams (e.g., monthly business reviews and long-term planning documents), including qualitative context/narrative
• Curate sub-org business review inputs into weekly and monthly summaries, utilizing judgement to work with teams to fill in gaps while providing a clear overview of the breadth and scope of work within ATA
• Respond to ad hoc and urgent business needs by balancing short-term delivery with long-term thinking
• Contribute to the development of style guidelines and content standards
• Provide feedback on documents of all types to continually raise the bar on writing standards in ATA
• Prioritize competing projects, identify risks to the schedule, and escalate issues judiciously
