We have an exciting opportunity for a **Business Data Intelligence Specialist - Data Engineer** to join the team! The **Business Data Intelligence Specialist - Data Engineer** will: + Design, develop, operate, and maintains software and data service platforms for streamlining, automating, reporting, analyzing, and visualizing JSC technology lifecycle processes; including: the solicitation, management, tracking, infusion, reporting of center technology + Evaluate current technology and business processes and advise the leadership team on process improvements and information technology utilization + Interface and integrate with existing NASA teams and software/APIs responsible for tracking technology including STMD STARPORT, TECHPORT and AppDat + Ensure all new software remains in compliance with laws, regulations, NASA policies, standards, and technical procedures + Provide team training on new systems and tools as needed + The individual will need the technical skills to navigate various industry standard data systems; and the problem-solving skills to design innovative methods of connecting data systems where obvious keys/connections are absent + Perform other duties as required **Requisition Qualifications:** This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. + Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area or experience in the field. + Experience in programing and scripting languages such as: Python, JavaScript, Go, or equivalents + Experience managing common database platforms: MySQL, Postgres, etc. + Experience in process improvement with measurable results + Background in data mining, modeling, analysis, cleaning, data error correction, and visualization + Familiarity with tools currently used by the Business Development and Technology Integration Office such as WordPress, SharePoint, Power BI, Svelte, HTML + Experience working in an Agile environment + Experience with API implementation and design, specifically repository-service model + Experience with software development/data structure best practices + Experience is UI/UX design is desired along with usability testing at multiple levels + Ideal candidate is a self-starter, problem solver, data driven, process driven operator with strong verbal, writing, and communication/presentation skills + Experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services) services such as Data Lakes, EC2, ELB, Cloud Watch, Auto Scale, Bean Stalk, LightSail, Lambda, Serverless Repo, and Container Registry/Container Service is highly desired + Experience with software life-cycle management and CI/CD platforms such as GitLab and Docker + Experience with launching/supporting software products **Requisition Preferences:** + Experience working in the NASA environment is desired **Why Join Our Team?** In addition to exciting career opportunities, we also have: + Excellent personal and professional career growth + 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), when applicable + Onsite cafeteria (breakfast & lunch) + Much, much more!
