Business Developer Representative

JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

The Business Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining markets for one product line in the public and industrial sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops plans to increase market share of assigned product or market through communications with municipal government officials, consulting engineers, engineering firms and utility companiesSeeks out and researches prospective projects through established sales channels and recommends the development of alternate sales channelsDrives the process for major project pursuit developing sales strategies with inside sales and representative networkEstablishes and maintains strong relationships with key purchasing influencesKeeps company management informed of business conditions which may affect assigned product or marketsProvides external leadership for the assigned product or market by actively participating in trade shows, equipment seminars and training activitiesEnsures that profit margins are maximized for the assigned productWorks with marketing and promotion, including advertising, review media, specials sales, and subsidiary rightsTracks status of projects including reporting spreadsheetsMaintains close contact with client’s key person throughout the project development stage, proposal stage and the final selection processProcures RFQ, RFP and bid documentsCompletes bid forms, bond requests, contract checklists, etc. including expediting appropriate corporate signaturesAttends pre-bids and site meetingsAssists in the development of written materials, proposals and price quotationsAssists in presenting proposals to potential clientsAssists in project start-up to ensure all key elements of the proposal are metPerforms follow-up with clients to ensure the operating contract and performance is satisfactoryAssists in evaluation of lost projects to increase contract winsUnderstands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions

QUALIFICATIONS

Effective written and verbal communication skillsStrong business development and sales experienceProficiency in Word and Excel

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and 5-10 years related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience

Requires overnight travel approximately 30% of the time.
