Business Development/Capture Management - Training Systems

The Akima portfolio places significant emphasis on our companies dedicated to providing aerospace/aviation support services. The Training Systems Capture Manager reporting to the Vice President of Business Development for the Facilities Solutions Group (FSG) will play a pivotal role in our team, contributing significantly to key strategic growth initiatives and other high-profile capture efforts. The successful candidate will take charge of developing and executing a comprehensive business development strategy that encompasses all facets of Akima's core training systems offerings.

We are seeking a self-starter with a proven track record in developing successful capture campaigns and delivering winning proposals for opportunities in both the small business and full and open markets in the continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS). The selected candidate will have ownership and responsibility for the entire capture evolution, from participating in opportunity identification and qualification to managing teaming and solution strategies, concept of operations (CONOPS) development, and strategic pricing, and implementing these strategies up to and throughout proposal development. Additionally, the Training Systems Capture Manager will participate in seamlessly transitioning capture efforts to execution. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape the growth of our training capabilities within Akima.

Responsibilities

Conduct market assessments and lead business development activities for Akima’s Training Capability, with an emphasis on Training Systems Solutions. Specific focus will be applied on training device development, upgrade, maintenance, and sustainment; simulator and training device instruction; training for ground-based support equipment and vehicle maintenance; and aviation related training.

Identify and qualify new business development opportunities and oversee the capture management and proposal development processes.

Develop engagement strategies for each opportunity, including identifying key stakeholders and decision makers and their motivations and hot buttons.

Determine teaming requirements, identify, and qualify industry partners, and lead teaming discussion.

Maintain pipeline accuracy.

Participate in the development of annual and long-range strategic business plans.

Support Senior Business Development and corporate leadership in staying aware of and preparing new business development opportunities.

Attend customer conferences and meetings as directed.

Forge and nurture relationships with key Government customers, including DoD Training System Government customers such as the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Air Mobility Command (AMC), Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), Naval Air Warfare Center Training Support Division (NAWC TSD), Marine Corps Training and Education Command (TECOM), and United States Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN).

Qualifications

Ten plus (10+) years of progressive experience in Business Development or Capture Management and Program Operations in the DOD contracting environment.

Four plus (4+) years of experience with the capture and proposal processes specific to Military Training Systems in the DOD contracting environment.

Current SECRET clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; Experience in technical writing.

Prior government/military service or contractor experience in core business areas of training systems and training services.

Four (4) year degree from an accredited university. Active-Duty Military experience and DoD schools and training, or ten years of relevant industry experience, may be substituted for consideration against the education requirements.

Technical Expertise:

Understand and integrate various technologies used in DoD training systems, including simulation software, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other cutting-edge technologies.

Experience with the development, delivery, operation, and sustainment of USAF aircrew and maintenance training systems and / or USN aviation and surface warfare training systems.

Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Computer-Based Training (CBT), and other digital military training environments.

Knowledge of software applications used in DoD training, such as flight simulators, mission planning tools, and communication systems.

Familiarity with relevant programming languages, simulation software, and other technical tools used in computer-based training modules.

Ability to integrate diverse technologies into cohesive training solutions, ensuring seamless interoperability and effectiveness in meeting DoD training objectives.

Understanding of cybersecurity considerations in the design and implementation of computer-based training systems for the DOD.

Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations governing computer-based training in the defense sector, including compliance with customer specific training guidelines and protocols.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with the development, delivery, operation, and sustainment of USA aircrew and maintenance training systems and ground vehicle training systems.

Proposal development support, serving as a Subject Matter Expert writer.

Collaborate with others to design, develop, and publish proposal documents.

Coordinate and conduct proposal review teams.

Support the development of the Technical, Management, and Cost Volumes.

Proven ability to develop business at executive and mid-levels.

Proven management track record – project level or higher – that illustrates success in BD, Government Program/Project management, and general management responsibilities.

Knowledge of decision makers, strategic direction, and major programs in the subject markets.

Ability to up-sell and expand services from existing contracts.

Successful track record developing business in new markets.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Capable of developing and delivering effective sales presentations.

Excellent proposal development skills.

Strong interpersonal and relational skills.

Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task.

Collaborative leader with ability to pull together cross functional support for BD initiatives.

Working knowledge of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), FMS, and ITARS processes.

Working knowledge of the training systems competitive marketplace.

Pay Range

$175,000 - $225,000
