Position Summary:  The Business Development Consultant is responsible for driving sales of Hartford Funds’ products and solutions. This hybrid sales role requires building relationships and identifying new opportunities with financial advisors, strategic partners, and firms within a defined territory. Individuals in this role are required to reside in their geographic territory.

Responsibilities:

Proactive sales outreach to financial advisors and key contacts at firms in assigned territory via phone, email, virtual, and in-person meetingsCultivate strong relationships with our strategic partners, registered representatives, and firmsBuild an efficient and thoughtful outreach strategy incorporating company and territory goalsIdentify new opportunities and grow existing client baseRegularly update advisors on industry trends in the current economic environmentPresent technical product knowledge in an innovative wayDemonstrate an elevated level of market knowledge and the ability to discuss Hartford Funds’ investment solutions within a competitive marketplace


Qualifications:       

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent on-the-job experience)Series 7 and Series 63 requiredA minimum of 3 years of wholesaling experience (internal or external)Technical proficiency of mutual funds, ETFs, and other Hartford Fund investment productsStrong understanding of the market and sales process; how to prospect for clients and close the saleDemonstrated knowledge of investment trends and the financial advisory businessA strong work ethic and ability to work independentlyConfidence in public speaking and excellent presentation skillsMust be resourceful and possess superior problem-solving skillsCoachableAble and willing to travel up to 50% of the time

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$125,000 - $125,000
