In order to continue our growth trajectory, Metabolon seeks a highly strategic and motivated individual to prospect, pursue, and close revenue in the Population Health business segment. The goal of this role is to further position Metabolon as the leading provider of metabolomics services for large-scale population health cohort studies. Many of these large programs are currently performing genotyping, sequencing, or other genomic studies at large scale. Expanding the utility and application of metabolomics data for disease and health-related clinical use within key programs will be a critical driver of this position.
Responsibilities Prospect and identify existing or potential programs and leaders within each cohort/consortium who are the decision makers for population health or large-scale studies.Engage and elevate the presence of Metabolon with such cohorts, as well as both funding body and scientific consortia, working closely with our Corporate Development team.Identify customer and market needs within each program based on Metabolon’s technology to develop a broader awareness, understanding, and collaboration potential within each.Work closely with leaders in population-based studies where metabolomics provides significant value to their multiomics studies, especially to go beyond known cohorts.Build relationships with champions and key opinion leaders to position Metabolon as the preferred technology for large-scale metabolomics and multiomics profiling.Develop a revenue-based funnel, leading to significant sales growth for Metabolon.Pursue and close contracts within each program to meet revenue goals. Develop strategic plans within each program leading to future business and relationships. Communicate across business segments the opportunities and relationships which may lead to follow up or synergistic business within Metabolon as a whole.Routinely provide an accurate sales forecast that is directly tied to sales metrics around activity, prospecting, 6X funnel management, and accountability of CRM input data.Work effectively as a team member with internal resources and with senior Metabolon leadership to outline strategic opportunities and markets in population health studies where samples are available or soon to be collected.Assume full accountability for the proactive building of a revenue pipeline to support sales. Takes a lead role in mobilizing resources in support of customer needs. Uses resources in a smart and impactful manner. Digs beneath the surface and seeks resources that address the core needs of a customer. Aligns with others in overlapping territories. Collaborates with internal teams and cross-functional partners to advance programs and initiatives.Prepare and present scientific and business presentations to external experts and scientists as well as Metabolon internal scientific and business partners.Demonstrate superb ability in strategic account management and show capacity to handle multiple complex contracts and projects within key accounts.Actively manage key opinion leaders (KOL) in the population health field. Qualifications A minimum of a BS degree in Life Sciences or related; PhD desirable.5-10 years of experience in working in a direct sales capacityPrevious, exhibited experience in large cohort/consortia engagement and/or population genomics research.Previous, exhibited ability to deeply penetrate population health-intensive organizations, namely large academic centers and foundations that are heavily engaged in this space.Expert experience in leading and completing commercial contracts with universities, research institutes and commercial companies.Strong prospecting skills in finding and developing your own leads.Experience working with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to manage and implement complex partnerships.Excellent written and oral communication skills will be required to give presentations to internal and external audiences. Must be able to understand and present on Metabolon’s technology advantages.Excellent analytical skills and ability to synthesize data into insightful vision engineering around the need for Metabolon and metabolomics.Ability to own and manage multiple key accounts and meet quarterly sales quota.Strong time management skills.Demonstrated ability to lead complex sales situations.Self-starter capable of continued synthesis and evangelization of new messaging.Proficiency with Salesforce.com, Office Suite software, and professional sales training in Miller Heiman, Challenger Sales, or Strategic Selling.Entrepreneurial by nature, self-sufficient and a great team member.Must be willing and able to travel 50-60% of the time.
