Business Development Lead Location: Herndon, VA (Hybrid Work) Required: US Citizen We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Shipley business development methodologies, exceptional writing skills, and a proven track record in both external and internal sales. The role demands a proactive individual who excels in customer-facing interactions, networking, and supporting government clients, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Requirements Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Business Development: + Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities in government markets, with a focus on DoD and DHS contracts. + Develop and implement strategic growth plans using Shipley methodologies. + Lead market research efforts to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks. 2. Proposal Development and Writing: + Develop and contribute to high-quality proposals, including compliance matrices, executive summaries, and technical narratives. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compelling, customer-focused proposals. + Ensure proposal content aligns with client requirements and company objectives. 3. Sales and Relationship Management: + Build and maintain strong relationships with government clients and stakeholders. + Conduct client-facing meetings, presentations, and demonstrations to identify customer needs and align solutions. + Act as the primary point of contact for external clients and internal teams regarding business development activities. 4. Networking and Partnerships: + Leverage professional networks to establish partnerships and collaborations. + Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences. 5. Collaboration and Communication: + Work closely with internal sales and marketing teams to align strategies and meet revenue targets. + Provide regular updates to senior management on pipeline activities, progress, and forecasts. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. + 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, with a focus on government clients. + Demonstrated understanding and application of Shipley business development methodologies. + Exceptional writing and communication skills, with experience in proposal development. + Strong ability to network and establish meaningful professional relationships. + Familiarity with federal acquisition processes, particularly in the DoD and DHS sectors. + Proven ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. + Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills: + Experience using CRM tools to manage sales pipelines and client interactions. + Knowledge of federal contracting vehicles and compliance requirements. + Certification in Shipley or similar proposal management training.
