Who You Are:
Versar Mission and Integrated Management Services (“MIMS”), with office locations in Washington, DC and Greenville, SC, is currently seeking a Business Development Leader. As the Business Development Leader for Versar MIMS, this individual will spearhead the development of new avenues of growth and foster new partnerships leading to topline revenue growth. This role will report to the Chief Growth Officer, directly support the Senior Vice President of the MIMS business unit and be a critical member of Versar’s Business Development Leadership Team. The MIMS Business Development team, reporting directly to the MIMS Business Development Leader, will consist of a team of Capture Managers located in the US and overseas, and be supported by bid and proposal, marketing and communications, cost estimating, and other Business Development resources. This Business Development Leader will be an integral member of Versar’s Core Management Team.
The MIMS Business Development Leader will allocate their time and resources primarily to leading the MIMS BD team to accomplish a set of established performance objectives, maturing and driving the MIMS capture and business development processes and culture, working with the MIMS leadership team and existing teaming partners to pursue and capture a robust existing pipeline of growth opportunities, and building new Customer and strategic teaming relationships to further accelerate growth. In this role, the MIMS Business Development Leader will be expected to travel frequently (2 to 3 times a month) to internal and external meetings, both domestically and internationally.
Your Impact:
Cultivate, refine, and sustain the strategic plan for MIMS, to include an in-depth understanding of Customers, competitors, market trends, and the value creation potential in each Market Sector encompassing MIMS. Evaluate the attractiveness of each opportunity in support of the strategic plan, operational decisions, and future investment.Lead the MIMS BD team in conducting ongoing economic and industry research to identify opportunities to enable the design of market entry strategies for the MIMS Business Area and its constituent Market Sectors.Work with the MIMS leadership team to implement and sustain Key Account Management plans for the most critical Customer relationships, including government-end Customers and leading Prime Contractors in the MIMS target markets.Lead the team in identifying new areas of growth leveraging MIMS existing and/or adjacent capabilities across current Key Accounts, existing project portfolio and with strategic partners.Develop and present business cases built on strong market intelligence and sound financial analysis to secure investments required to pursue new growth paths.Provide timely intelligence on all captures and competition, including a realistic assessment of opportunities, status updates, and partnerships. Recommend funding of internal and external studies and research initiatives to identify emerging and transformational initiatives.Leverage his/her network to quickly test innovative ideas and validate opportunities at hand.Establish and introduce new C-suite relationships with Customers and partners.Partner with the Chief Growth Officer to continue evolving Versar’s approach to Business Development and growth, including fostering an industry leading Capture Culture, developing, and implementing advanced capture tools, and appropriately leveraging new and emerging technologies to enhance Versar’s win rate and return on BD investment.Lead, mentor, and guide a team of business development professionals who will be tasked with developing key relationships and new opportunities.What You’ll Do:
In consultation with the MIMS Business Area Executive, manage the pipeline of New Business and Recompete opportunities.Lead Key Account strategies and BD activities including market assessment, opportunity identification pursuit maturation, and Key Account Management plans.Assist in opportunity qualification, go/no-go and final bid decisions, competitive landscape assessment, Customer evaluation, capture process management, and all other aspects of a winning Business Development strategy.Provide oversight, QA, and compliance assurance with Customer requirements for capture efforts.Staff capture and bid efforts in concert with relevant operations and functional personnel.Lead data analysis, reporting, and knowledge management informing business strategies.Support training efforts to build capacity of BD across the MIMS Business Area.Develop and cultivate relationships with Customers, key teaming partners, project managers, technical specialists, and subject-matter experts to contribute to technical solution designs, bid reviews, and analyses of proposals and business development strategies across MIMS.Serves as the “Voice of the Customer” in the company’s solutioning efforts and the performance of contracting requirements.Provides a comprehensive understanding of the missions of the respective agencies and their cultures, organizational components, leadership, major programs, and challenges.Leads target Agency /Customer strategic planning and positioning with the full support of the company infrastructure that includes capture management, proposal development, and management, subject matter expertise covering a broad range of portfolio capabilities, including “cross-selling,” a full complement of the company’s services.What You’ll Bring:
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 10-15 years of operational and/or business development experience leading, as the account executive (lead), program and/or project manager or similar operational position, on major defense or other federal programs performing under firm-fixed price (FFP) and/or cost type contracts or capture responsibilities for similar types of programs. International experience is a plus.Bachelor’s degree in a related Science or Engineering degree, or a business degree with requisite experience. An advanced degree or other relevant certifications are a plus. A minimum of 10+ years leading business development, with 10+ years of proven performance as a capture lead for specific federal accounts.Sales and/or projects experience in CONUS and OCONUS markets.Strong, broad-based business development experience demonstrating creativity, innovation, and a charismatic leadership style that elicits the best from his / her team.An experienced leader of business capture processes, with a successful and meaningful record of accomplishment in selling international service contracts.Experience collaborating closely with all Customers to obtain the earliest possible identification of business opportunities.Must understand the Warfighter; former military experience is valued.The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to travel, as required, both CONUS and OCONUS.Must be compliant with immunization requirements of the USG for government workers and contractors.Experience working with and collaborating with multiple business units on business development objectives in concert with all corporate support functions (e.g., legal, contracts, finance, human resources, etc.) to address contractual risk in the bid process.Either in prior operational or business development role, experience, and knowledge in addressing the risks and complexities in performing with a frequently hybrid mix of CBA, DBA and/or SCA workforce, combined with both US employees and a range of other nationalities.Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.Preferred Qualifications
US Federal Government defense and security programs and contracts experience.US Federal Government leadership or international business experience, are a plus.An active security clearance (Secret or above), or if recently lapsed, the ability to renew, is a plusCompensation
Expected Salary: $225,000 - $275,000 per year

Location Requirements
The position will primarily be based at either office locations in Washington, DC and Greenville, SC, with preference for the Greenville office. Remote work may be considered.
