Business Development Manager, Cell & Gene Therapy Solutions

The Cell & Gene Therapy Solutions – Business Development Manager will be responsible for the entire cell and gene therapy workflow with emphasis on regenerative medicine solutions at Bio-Techne that includes products, services, and platforms across all of Bio-Techne’s brands including but not limited to ProteinSimple, R&D Systems, and Tocris.  This is a customer-facing, field-based position to present these workflow solutions, current and future state, and be readily available for questions and bringing in additional Bio-Techne colleagues to the conversations as needed.  This role will be based directly in or closely by a biotech/biopharma centralized location in North America (e.g. Southern California:  San Diego, Los Angeles). 

 

The responsibilities of this role are as follows: 

Build and strengthen customer relationships within the Cell & Gene Therapy industry via onsite visits, engaging presentations, calls, tradeshows, and related networking opportunities. 

Have a high level of technical knowledge and subject matter expertise within the Cell Therapy, Gene Therapy, and particularly Regenerative Medicine market supporting customers working with iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells) to differentiated cell types for a variety of ex vivo therapeutic indications that have path to clinic. 

Generate and deliver commercial sales results as it relates to meeting and exceeding quota, providing accurate forecasting, and reliably building and advancing an up-to-date funnel. 

Collaborate with all commercial team members and leadership with regards to contracts, agreements, voice of customer, new product development, commercial launch, and working with customers and marketing department for early access programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Take a leadership role in bringing Bio-Techne’s CGT (Cell & Gene Therapy) workflow solutions via Reagent Solutions, Analytical Solutions, Spatial Biology, and our ScaleReady joint venture to inform new customers and further build upon the relationships at established accounts. 

Build strong relationships with customers and frequently meet with customers locally and across a defined territory region.   

Identify new business opportunities including but not limited to Analytical Solutions (Simple Western, Simple Plex, Biologics), Spatial Biology (Advanced Cell Diagnostics), Reagent Solutions (RUO and GMP proteins, antibodies, small molecules, and more), and ScaleReady joint venture products. 

Attend key tradeshow events both locally and throughout North America for the Cell and Gene Therapy Business Unit. 

Support, identify, and continue building out key opinion leader program for this market area. 

Setup and lead business reviews at CGT accounts. 

Be a key part of providing a world-class customer experience every day 

Ensure that you’re up-to-date and keeping CGT stakeholders informed of emerging technologies, new companies entering and exiting the market, industry trends, and key market opportunities. 

Follow company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance to the job. 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

 Education and Experience 

Bachelor’s degree in a related science field (immunology, cell biology, molecular biology) required with a minimum of 5-7 years of related sales experience OR advanced degree (M.S., PhD) with 2-4 years of related commercial experience. 

Hands on laboratory experience and/or working knowledge working with stem cells and solutions supporting this workflow highly desirable.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $140,000-$160,000 annually and will be determined based on qualifications, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for commission and participation in the company's long-term incentive plan.
