Business Development Manager, Corporations

The Team You’ll Work With

You will be joining the Business Development Team that manages Carta’s top partnerships on the Corporations team, which include law firms, service providers, accelerators, and VCs.  Our Business Development Team is a key part of the broader Corporations business unit at Carta. 

As Business Development Manager, you will represent Carta in-market and oversee the company’s efforts to grow its network, deepen existing relationships, and develop additional business opportunities with Carta’s key partners. The Business Development Team works cross-functionally to drive ecosystem partnerships to accelerate our growing business. 

Ideal candidates will be energized by building and managing impactful external relationships, driving cross-functional collaboration, digging into data, devising strategy, finding scalable and repeatable best practices, and creating more owners across a dynamic industry. 

The Problems You’ll Solve

As Business Development Manager for our Law Firm & Service Provider Team, you will: 

Create champions for Carta’s products among key law firm partners (partners, associates, paralegals, and internal tech practice leads as well as their clients - companies that are on or in the future could be on Carta) and other service providers, including banks, fractional CFOs, advisory partners, and more operating in the Emerging Company/Venture Capital (ECVC) space  Amplify and deepen Carta’s partner relationships in key US markets Identify and develop new long-term relationships to grow and nurture Carta’s network and business Leverage Salesforce to map partner contacts by firm and geography, and maintain Carta’s partner contact database  Collaborate with business development peers within our team and cross functionally (VC/Accelerator, PE, LLC, and Fund Admin) to strategically manage national relationships across geographies and create unified account plans for key partners  Work cross-functionally across the business with Sales, Marketing, Product, Implementations, and Support; convey market signal and product feedback from the field to internal stakeholders Promote Carta’s thought leadership by devising and implementing business strategy with a goal of bolstering Carta’s presence in the market and driving effective and engaging content Operate in the field as a representative of Carta, meeting with current and prospective partners and attending industry events on Carta’s behalf (up to 25% travel to startup hubs like LA, Miami, NYC, Chicago, Austin, Boston, Denver, and more)

Qualifications

Significant knowledge and deep understanding of trends in the tech and venture capital ecosystem  Relevant network of contacts within the community, specifically those encompassing law firms, banks outsourced CFOs, venture capital firms, the founder community and other ecosystem players  Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and networking skills, with experience leading meetings with key leaders and decision makers  Demonstrated success working collaboratively and fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders  3-6 years of Business Development, Partnerships, or other relevant GTM experience Based in San Francisco

Nice-to-Have

Proficiency in Salesforce  Prior experience building and managing relationships with high-profile ecosystem partners including law firms, outsourced CFOs, service providers, venture capital firms, or other technology companies Prior experience in professional services 

Understanding of equity management, liquidity, fund administration, or valuation services.

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is: 
 

$180,000 OTE - $225,000 OTE in SF
