Position Description
Position: Manager – Business Development
Location: Detroit metro area (Michigan, USA) or Guelph (western suburb of Toronto, Canada); travel as needed
Primary Function:
Responsible for ensuring customer success for current and future clients. Lead business intelligence, business development, marketing, sales, account management, project delivery, and customer support. Coordinate internally to align departments and ensure high customer satisfaction. Strengthen existing relationships and significantly grow the business in line with company culture, values, and long-term strategy.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Nurture and Grow Existing Business
Ensure client satisfaction and successful outcomes
Build and maintain strong client relationships
Understand and anticipate client needs
Address client concerns promptly
Analyze and improve sales effectiveness
Increase business share with existing clients
Generate new business (products/contracts) from existing clients
Handle commercial matters to maintain effective relationships
Oversee smooth client audits and visits
Manage timely payments and account reconciliations
Conduct site visits as needed
Lead key account management and CRM processes
2. Business Intelligence and Development
Monitor market, industry, technology, and competition trends
Lead SWOT analysis and develop growth strategies
Identify and pursue growth opportunities
Understand client sourcing strategies
Lead RFQ generation and conversion
Develop business cases, costing, pricing strategies, and proposals
Manage marketing efforts, communications, and event participation
3. Internal Leadership
Enhance CRM and KAM processes
Oversee full program delivery from start to finish
Coordinate cross-departmental activities
Ensure schedule adherence and quality standards
Collaborate on cost reductions and productivity improvements
Drive customer recognition as a top supplier
Contribute as part of the senior leadership team

Education/Experience:
MBA preferred; BSME desired
10+ years of experience, preferably with Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive suppliers
