Our story starts in 1911, manufacturing cables to support the distribution of power generated from Niagara Falls, Nexans has proudly contributed to Canada's growth.  We have been involved in many of Canada's most ambitious projects; from dams, bridges, energy transmission and distribution to railroads and transportation. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and our products are made at facilities located in Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

 

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR ROLE  

 

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the technical sales account strategy for potential customers in their assigned verticals in their assigned region. The candidate will be responsible for positioning Nexans as the wire and cable provider of choice within their targeted  market verticals. They will possess knowledge to understand the customer’s needs and leverage the Engineering and Development teams to identify and facilitate  solutions for customers.

 

This position reports directly to the Director, Sales for Distribution & Usages North America.

 

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

 

When working as  the Business Development Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

 

Identify, develop and execute comprehensive growth strategies to achieve profitable business growth in targeted strategic markets and verticals. Develop, implement and maintain strategic roadmaps, including leveraging market and industry data intelligence. Build effective strategic customer relationships with Distributors, OEM’s, EPCs and Electrical Contractors.   Represent Nexans in the targeted verticals and drive brand awareness and engagement by actively participating in and attending industry associations, trade events and standards forums. Responsible for the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators as they relate to their assigned vertical Provide value proposition solutions and technical support to all stakeholders. Understand specific customer needs and manage the RFP process from identification to submission. Work with the Research & Development and Marketing teams to develop current and future solutions as per customer specifications. Collaborate with marketing function to develop and implement winning push and pull marketing strategies to position Nexans as a market  leader in the target verticals. The candidate will identify manufacturing opportunities early in the design cycle through customer and manufacturing engineering relationships & will participate in customer design reviews for the cables business Develop and manage sales funnels to track project opportunities and successes

 

HOW DO I QUALIFY?

 

Bachelors Degrees or equivalent experience 5 - 7 years of progressive sales experience in manufacturing business development Experience in establishing relationships with key stakeholders (Distributors, EPCs, Contractors etc.) in commercial and industrial markets Electrical engineer (purchase or designer with EPC) ideal Highly motivated with entrepreneurial attitude and outlook, strong work ethics with high level of integrity Coordinate effective team collaboration, both internally and externally. Demonstrable success in developing and winning new accounts and managing existing customers. Significant experience in the electrical industry is essential Excellent MS Office skills Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, interpersonal and closing skills Experience working with vast remote cross-functional teams in large matrix organizations Project management skills are desired with excellent ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize Overnight travel as required within North America
