Business Development Manager

As a Business Development Manager, you will oversee assigned accounts, managing daily operations, driving revenue growth, and ensuring profitability within the Travel Retail channel. You will proactively identify growth opportunities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives. Additionally, you will seek out new business opportunities to drive further revenue growth.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the travel industry and supporting customers and travel advisors to protect travelers as they explore the world. They will excel in partnering with travel advisors to deliver tailored travel insurance solutions that meet diverse customer needs.

 

This role offers the flexibility to work remotely from any major city in Canada or its surrounding areas, while reporting to our head office in Cambridge, Ontario. 

 

What you will do

Manage assigned accounts within the Travel/retail OTA channel: Provide and advocate for best-in-class service for partner accounts, ensuring their requests are dealt with in a timely manner and with quality customer service. Oversee regular check-ins and performance reviews. Build relationships and develop an intimate understanding of the partners’ business and related needs. Facilitate partner on-site and/or remote visits and training sessions, including product and systems training, directly with partner advisors or in a train-the-trainer model with partner operations teams. Oversee partner renewals and assess sales against performance targets. Work with internal teams to ensure processes are in place to maintain the business (eg. finance, compliance, licensing, learning & development) Grow assigned accounts: Work with partners to identify opportunities for additional revenue. Build business cases to prioritize and implement new revenue generating opportunities. Identify other upsell and cross-sell opportunities related to partners’ business. Grow new business: Attend partner and industry events and stay up to date on industry developments to identify opportunities for new business. Maintain pipeline of new business opportunities Nurture and develop leads that fit with existing book of partners.

 

What you will Bring

College Diploma/Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales account/client management in the travel industry. Knowledge and understanding of industry, market, client, business development trends. Knowledge of innovative client management, sales, and business development strategies, and demonstrated ability to achieve ambitious goals. Demonstrated success with creative problem solving, consensus building and managing diverse interpersonal relationships. Demonstrated ability to acquire new opportunities from cold status. Demonstrated ability to drive client retention and growth. Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals at varying levels. Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for assigned tasks and shows initiative to suggest improvements to processes and procedures. Experience with sales and CRM systems (e.g. SalesForce) an asset.

 

Travel Expectation:  70% with some travel to the U.S.
