Business Development Manager

As an Associate Director Business Development within our Work, Rewards & Career practice, you will be responsible for identifying new revenue opportunities, driving new customer growth and developing a go-to-market strategy by partnering with senior leadership to realize and capitalize on opportunities for market expansion, increased profitability, and sustained success in a competitive business landscape. Responsibilities comprise but is not limited to:


•    Develop and implement strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth objectives.
•    Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, and other lead generation activities.
•    Create and deliver compelling sales presentations to potential clients.
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.
•    Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
•    Analyse market data to identify potential areas for business expansion and product/service enhancement.
•    Advise and consult with companies on their broader HR challenges.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of client solutions.


In addition, you will be a key contributor to projects that help client organizations enable business strategies and improve how they attract, retain and engage talent. You will be responsible for drawing on your imagination, creativity, project management and problem-solving skills, as well as your ability to analyze information, develop conclusions and present content through clear, well-written communication in a variety of media formats. 
 

Planning and Strategy 

       Keep abreast of industry trends and market needs in South Africa and African markets. Assess the full range of WTW products and service offerings in meeting these market needs to inform future business strategy.


Business Development and Customer Service

  Develop strategies driving the origination, qualification and conversion of new opportunities across a portfolio of products/solutions.
    Develop a 3-to-5-year Sales implementation plan to drive and increase revenue for the business.
    Develop and grow new business opportunities in South Africa and other African markets.
    Develop and drive growth plans for Tier 1 clients as well as a key account program covering strategic initiatives among selected industries.
    Owning the sales lifecycle from prospecting to closing new business opportunities
    Capitalise on global marketing initiatives and manage local digital marketing initiatives as well as PR.
    Prepare and deliver pitches and presentations to potential new clients, State and Private Sector.
    Represent the company at networking events and conferences.
    Build strong relationships with current and new customers, locally and internationally.
    Developing rapport with key decision makers
    Build on existing relationships to develop and grow new business opportunities for the company.
    Running outbound campaigns (phone calls, emails, etc.) to create sales and new business opportunities.
    Managing virtual and in-person business development meetings.
    Ensuring excellent customer service through regular client follow-up.
    Communicating with clients to understand their needs and offer solutions to their problems.
    Working with senior team members to identify and manage company risks that might prevent growth.
    Combining efforts and fostering a collaborative environment within the business.
    Maintaining client activities in CRM system.


Financial Management and Contracting   

    Forecasting business projections & trends, formulating result-oriented plans.
    Responsible for setting and adherence to Targets, budgets, and objectives.
    Developing and presenting proposals customized for each client’s specific business needs.
    Translating proposals into ready-to-sign contracts


Advisory work   

     To be effective in this role, you will need strong business acumen along with confidence to interact with more senior colleagues and key client contacts. Comfort navigating ambiguity and uncertainty, organized thinking and communication skills, and a willingness to engage in both deep analysis, strategic design and tactical implementation of solutions are also critical to success in this position.
    Serve as the lead Consultant on client projects and/or as the “second” for most complex clients/engagements, developing appropriate HR strategies which support the client’s business goals while adhering to Willis Towers Watson quality standards
    Think strategically in partnering with clients to pioneer unique approaches to solving their business problems
    Provide high quality consulting advice, accurate technical content and engaging deliverables to senior leaders in client companies
    Use highly effective written and spoken communications to deliver detailed findings, analyses and recommendations to senior leaders of client organizations
    Build brand image for our business and contribute towards enhancing the Willis Towers Watson brand and market position in the region
    Monitor project status on a daily basis, keep the project plan up to date, and discuss changes or issues with the project team and suppliers as soon as they arise.
    Contribute to the development of intellectual capital, new tools and approaches 
    Develop technical knowledge and skills across a variety of industries and human capital areas 
    Increase efficiency by identifying ways to improve processes.

 

•    Minimum 10 years of work experience in a senior advisory/consulting role dealing with key accounts. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology/Sociology, Industrial/ Organizational Psychology or similar
•    Strong competence in Human Resources, member of relevant professional associations and relevant professional qualifications.
•    Proven track record of success in providing strategic advisory solutions and business development.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Results-oriented with a focus on achieving and exceeding targets.
•    Demonstrated success in closing deals and achieving revenue targets
•    Excellent analytical skills both in terms of logic of reasoning and analysis of numerical and financial data
•    Ability to draw on a combination of advanced analytics and leading-edge technology to deliver insights to clients
•    The expectation is that candidate will have the ability to organise and prioritise their time effectively in a methodical and structured manner. They will be a team player, utilising excellent communication skills as well as being able to work independently to deadlines.
