The BDM – Fire Protection Contractors will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with Fire Protection Contractors throughout Texas.  This role will also be responsible for identifying who the key contractors are in the market, understanding the contractor needs, decision and purchase making processes, and collaborate with our local manufacturer representatives to create demand to grow market share, and support Zurn Elkay’s sales network.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Contractor Relationship Development:
o    Identify, prioritize, and establish relationships with key Design Build Fire Protection contractors throughout Texas.
o    Build and maintain strong partnerships with contractors at all levels.
o    Be involved in industry associations, specifically Texas Fire Protection organizations.
Market Understanding and Strategy:
o    Analyze buying habits and decision-making processes of the Fire Protection contractors.
o    Develop strategies to align with contractor needs, that lead to product adoption.
o    Drive specifications (Basis of Design) at design-build contractors throughout Texas.

 Collaboration and Support:
o    Work closely with our local manufacturer representatives to strengthen relationships and brand awareness with Fire Protection contractors.
o    Provide technical assistance and on-site support to contractors as needed, resolving and job site issues promptly.
•    Pipeline and CRM Management:
o    Maintain a job funnel in the CRM system, ensuring all opportunities and documented and tracked.
o    Provide regular updates on sales and relationship-building efforts.
•    Demand and Market Share Growth:
o    Increase market share and product/brand demand among Texas contractors.
o    Promote and position our Fire Protection product offering as the preferred brand choice for contractors statewide.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Technical training/presentations to large audiences
•    Understand market drivers, technical trends, customer requirements (e.g., new products or services), and competitive landscape.
•    Provide qualitative voice-of-customer (VOC) feedback to new product development teams on Zurn Elkay’s existing products, new products, and competitor offerings.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor’s degree and equivalent industry experience required.
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in the Fire Protection or construction industries.
•    Strong understanding of the Texas Fire Protection market preferred.
•    Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
•    Willingness to travel extensively throughout Texas to engage with contractors and attend industry events.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND BEHAVIORS

•    Knowledge of manufacturing sales through distribution and rep agencies, and their related materials purchasing pathways is essential.
•    Solid business skills in customer-facing functions, inclusive of value-added-selling, negotiating, and closing the deal.
•    Proficient in developing and delivering presentations to Engineers, Owners, Regulators, Architects, Contractors, Wholesalers, Distributors.
•    Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
