BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - LOGISTICS

Job Title: Business Development Manager – Logistics

The Job Details: Maintain and develop strategic relationships with key customer contacts with the aim of fostering and growing existing logistic and warehousing business whilst identifying and targeting new business relationships and opportunities.  The Business Development Manager - Logistics will work closely with Regional VP’s, Area Managers, and General Managers of not only their region, but throughout the company nationally as needed to facilitate and grow customer business as it relates to Logistic and Warehousing services.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Understanding of basic transportation and warehousing capabilities, services, offerings. Identifying and qualifying new potential accounts. Develop and implement strategic business plans to expand logistics services. Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and understand current market trends. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver logistics solutions that meet client needs. Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients and service providers. Monitor the logistics market and competitor activities to adjust strategies accordingly. Provide leadership and direction to the logistics business development team. Achieve financial targets and business objectives set by the organization. Explaining and demonstrating features of products and services and upselling those products and services. Strong presentation and public speaking skills. Creating and maintaining a company database of current and potential customers (CRM). Closing sales and achieving quotas. Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills. Staying informed about competing products and services. Negotiation skills. Convey moderately complex information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties. The ability to work independently to achieve goals. Work with a high degree of integrity and dependability. Ability to manage cross-department relationships. Identifying logistics, warehousing, and distribution requirements of potential customers nationally. Coordinating customer prospect meetings. Formal and informal proposal of company services, written and verbal (warehousing and transportation). Rate understanding and presentation to prospective customers. Ongoing account management and maintenance calls. Work closely with Operations with regard to: Ongoing lead generation (prospecting). Follow up on customer inquiries. Individual facility needs and programs. Local, Regional, and National account growth. Space planning. Profitability analysis and rate adjustments. Must be willing to travel a minimum of 50% away from home as required. Must have the ability to cover business expenses prior to company reimbursement.

The Job Specifics: 

 Location and Department: Wilmington, IL (Reports to Head Office), Business Development Reports To: Sr. Manager Business Development - Logistics Travel Amount: 50% travel  Job Type, EEO, and Job Code: Full-Time, Exempt Salaried, Bi-Weekly Paid Salary Range: $100,000.00-$110,000.00 per year.

What We Are Looking For: 

Education:  

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience in sales and marketing.

Experience: 

At least 3-5 years of experience in marketing, transportation sales, or relevant position preferred. Must have the ability to provide guidance, direction, and motivate others to obtain improved performance. Must be well versed in Microsoft Office, with strong interpersonal skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Professional knowledge and experience in project management, including problem solving, conflict resolution skills, consulting skills, operational management skills and analytical skills. Thorough knowledge of negotiation tactics, and practices. Strong attention to detail. The Position requires high energy level, presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and adjust as needed. Possess strong work ethics, actively seeking opportunities for improvement and proposing solutions. Professional presence, high emotional intelligence, positive demeanor, and situation awareness. High level of integrity, discretion, sound judgment and a team player.
