Position Summary:
The Business Development (BD) Officer will create and maintain strategic relationships with the life science research community to build business and technological innovation opportunities for the Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G) at McGill University. The candidate will develop a strong understanding of our genomics analysis, software, and cloud computing infrastructure capabilities to promote the corresponding service offer at a provincial, national and international level. The BD Officer will spearhead business relations planning and initiatives, including outreach communications, campaigns, follow-ups, event promotion, and engagement. In collaboration with C3G Managers, the incumbent will oversee the strategic alignment and timely execution of all BD activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage existing relationships and develop diversified new business contacts with individuals and organizations in the life science community.Work closely with data analysts, software developers, and the training officer to determine the objectives and needs of potential new platform users and guide subsequent platform developments. Organize and lead introductory meetings between business leads and technical team members.Perform a market assessment for bioinformatics services in Québec and other provinces, perform a competitive analysis, and provide insights regarding future trends.Scout job sites, call for tenders, and funding agencies competition results to identify business opportunities.Making cold calls to generate client meetings and present C3G's servicesMaintain a list of potential clients and business leadsTrack KPIs to assess ROIs and for reporting to funding agenciesIdentify and attend networking events and opportunities. Establish relationships with local business associations (BIOQuébec, Montréal InVivo, etc).Lead the design, purchase and dissemination of physical promotional material such as flyers and gifts.Lead the design of online promotional content such as newsletters, blog posts, videos and other marketing tools (e.g. coupons)Together with the Manager and Web Designer, coordinate the re-design of the C3G website.Ensure all communication to employers is compliant with provincial language requirements.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
