Business Development Representative (M/F/D)

Avantor is seeking an Business Development Representative (M/F/D). In this role, you will relentlessly develop strong, sustainable relationships with your customer base, primarily by telephone and video calls but also face to face, utilising your extensive knowledge of our product portfolio to build long term solutions unique to each customer and their requirements.

This is a full-time permanent position. Ideally, you’ll be based close to our office in Dublin but we are offering this role with the hybrid working arrangement with 2 days based in our Ballycoolin Office. Working hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00

What we’re looking for


Education: A degree in a Science related subject to help your understanding of our portfolio, which includes chemicals, consumables, general life science products, chromatography solutions, Safety & PPE etc would be an advantage

Experience: Previous business development, account management experience

Preferred qualifications:

Strong organisation skills: you will manage a variety of different customers at different stages in the sales cycle while communicating with various other internal stakeholdersOutstanding communication skills: you will need the confidence to be proactive and use influencing/negotiation skills to drive conversations and relationships forwardsCommercial understanding of the market, potential competition, pricing, and discount structures would be beneficialExperience using a CRM

Utilise our internal network of product experts and our extensive catalogue of products to support you in designing relevant product packages for our customers, always looking for ways to increase our competitive advantage and drive customer satisfactionDevelop customer relationships by setting up regular calls and face to face meetings, aiming to maintain and progress the opportunity for sales and profitabilityMake outbound calls to leads to create opportunities for selling the Avantor product portfolio – ensuring a true understanding of the customer’s needs and tailoring a solutionEnhance your pipeline of prospects and opportunities through appropriate planning and forecasting to accurately achieve and exceed achieve set targetsDemonstrate strategic agility in your approach to customers and projects and implement agreed strategies across your network of existing accounts and new prospects
