Business Development Specialist – Construction

 

Our client is an innovative Alberta company in commercial building construction. This is a full time Business Development Specialist position working out of the company’s Calgary office. We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Business Development Specialist to join their team and play a key role in securing new projects and driving their continued growth. They are a team of passionate professionals dedicated to building high-quality, sustainable structures.

Responsibilities:

Identify and research potential new business opportunities within the construction industry. Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company goals. Build strong relationships with potential clients, architects, engineers, and other key decision-makers. Qualify leads and convert them into qualified proposals. Prepare compelling proposals and presentations that effectively communicate the company’s value proposition. Manage the bidding process, including bid preparation, submission, and follow-up. Track industry trends and competitor activity to identify new market opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams (estimating, operations, project management) to ensure a smooth proposal development process. Maintain a strong understanding of company construction capabilities and competitive advantages.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field ideal however minimum of 5-10 years of experience in business development or a related field within the construction industry. Proven track record of identifying and securing new business opportunities. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry professionals. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with CRM software (a plus).
