Dentons US LLP is recruiting for a Business Development Specialist for its Corporate, Tax and Private Client practice. The individual in this position is expected to create and implement outside-the-box business development and marketing strategies to generate new client relationships, expand current client relationships, and enhance the brand recognition of the practice and the Firm. This is a hybrid position.
**Responsibilities**
+ Work with lawyers and professionals to provide, create, prepare and coordinate client proposals/pitches and responses to Requests for Proposals
+ Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of practice and industry expertise and client relationships to operate as a strategic advisor to department leadership to grow Firm business through marketing and strategic initiatives highlighting the Firm’s work and offerings
+ Develop an annual budget for the practice; monitor and track marketing and BD expenditures for expense management purposes; and review expense requests
+ Conduct market analyses, industry and competitive intelligence research, and prepare reports to generate and support BD opportunities
+ As the subject matter expert, generate content, create and maintain marketing materials, and work with the communications team to identify and leverage marketing and media relations opportunities
+ Proactively report the Firm’s transactions to league table companies to optimize the Firm’s standings
+ Assist with the onboarding of new laterals, including the creation of biographies; work with the communications team on announcements
+ Support the development, publishing and promotion of thought leadership
+ Oversee the strategy and drafting of Chambers USA and other rankings and directories submissions
+ Generate ideas for and work with the events team to execute seminars, webinars and other client events
+ Develop high-level partnering relationships with industry associations and consultants to identify connections, speaking and conference presentation opportunities and sources of new business referrals
+ Leverage marketing technology tools and other knowledge management resources to increase prospect identification and internal information sharing
+ Other duties as may be assigned
**Experience & Qualifications**
+ 5+ years of business development experience in a professional services industry, with preference given to law firm experience
+ Knowledge of core business development principles including marketing, client-facing communications, internal communications, public relations, seminar/event planning, branding, market research, competitive intelligence, credentials and RFP response preparation
+ Highly motivated self-starter who is able to handle a variety of projects that require tight deadlines
+ Proficient at making connections between people, issue-spotting, and possess a strong intellectual curiosity about the business of law
+ Highly organized and possess strong creative abilities and excellent writing skills, as well as the ability to think strategically and analytically
+ Able to work with higher levels of management in the Firm and work well as part of a team
+ Experience dealing with global marketing issues and sensitivities is a plus but not a requirement
+ Legal training is also a plus but not a requirement
**Salary**
Chicago Only DOE: $85,000 - $110,000
Washington DC Only DOE: $85,000 - $110,000
