Business Improvement Lead
Location: Hemel Hempstead and/or Loughborough
Position Description:
The primary purpose of this role is to focus on identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities in BSIs Product Certification test laboratories, using Lean Six Sigma, 5S and Design Thinking methodologies – focusing on operational efficiency improvements. As part of the future of product testing, traditional physical testing may be replaced with, or complemented by, digital testing techniques. The scope of this role would also include process improvement opportunities related to the implementation of digital testing.This role will also focus on process improvements elsewhere across BSI, which may be physical processes, or fully procedural/system based.This is a hybrid role with regular on-site work at other BSI Locations, particularly at our Hemel Hempstead and Loughborough sites.Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Conduct thorough analysis of existing processes to identify areas for improvement.Implement efficiency gains using methodologies such as 5S and Six Sigma to optimize operations and reduce waste.Lead and manage projects with autonomy, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.Influence and gain buy-in from key stakeholders, including cross-functional teams and senior management, for proposed changes and improvements.Work with the laboratory managers to ensure optimal utilization of equipment and workforce to maximize productivity and efficiency.Lead Lean/Six Sigma projects to drive testing process improvements and quality enhancements.Prepare detailed reports and documentation on testing process improvements, efficiency gains, and project outcomes.Education/Requirements:
Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on process improvement, ideally in a highly regulated environment, with a manufacturing or service industry or test laboratory focus, utilising Lean, Six Sigma and 5S techniques/ methodologies (or equivalent)Working experience of using tools such as, but not limited to: Miro, Business Objects, Minitab, MS Visio, MS Office, Tableau, Power BI.Advanced in using MS Visio or similar for As-Is, To-Be and Blue-Sky process mappingTechnically literate with the ability to quickly learn BSI RS Systems and ProcessesLean Six Sigma Black Belt qualification, or equivalent.Relevant degree in a related field, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial or Process Engineering or extensive work experience in process improvement.Workshop facilitationEffective meeting managementStakeholder engagement and managementEffective influencingAbility to communicate with all levels within the organizationAs a team member at BSI, you will enjoy an extensive, competitive total rewards package.
