Business Intel. Engineer II, Customer eXperience Impressions
Description Amazon’s Customer eXperience Impressions (CXI) team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with a strong depth of analytics and metric to join us to develop insights that improve the Amazon shopping experience. We are responsible for developing data products, generating reports, and deriving science-backed insights that define and assess the customer experience on Amazon. As a team within Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT), are data products are used to understand and evolve supply chain decisions towards improving the customer experience. Our focus is constant innovation for customer benefit. Unlike brick and mortar stores where it is challenging to capture customer interest in a product unless they purchase the item, e-commerce offers the unique advantage of capturing customer shopping impressions even if they don't convert to sales. Customer Shopping Impressions serve as a leading indicator of potential future demand. They allow us to capture a comprehensive set of data points, such as product, price, and delivery speed. This data helps us understand both what we presented to the customer and their subsequent behavior. Key job responsibilities As a BIE on the CXI team, you will need to understand what information is valuable to our internal customers, and work with product and engineering teams to design business metrics that are necessary to extract business insights, such as how customers navigate through pages (Search, Detail Page, etc) and the sub-par experiences they encountered. Given Amazon's scale, our systems handle a data load of 170 TB per day and 12 million TPS during peak times. We will rely on your expertise to ensure data quality and to invent performant and scalable solutions that offer business insights. You will serve as the primary contact for customers seeking guidance on using our products. Your role demands forward-thinking to ensure scalability without added operational burden. You will be required to acquire a deep understanding of our systems and those across Amazon to identify synergies and avoid duplication. You will perform critical analysis to inform product design and prioritize business needs. You will seek scale and automation, while balancing short-term and long-term requirements, and work with various teams to improve our data products. You will collaborate with product managers to identify the most promising business problems, create a cohesive roadmap that makes the best use of available resources, evangelize product features to our internal customers, accelerate feature adoption, track the realized impacts, and communicate results. This is a highly visible role and will require regular interaction and communication with senior leaders. You must have experience and capability to document your work for technical as well as non-technical audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a necessity. Successful candidates should excel at diving into data to analyze problems and implement simple, scalable, long-term solutions. Candidates should also be able to use data to influence leaders. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience - Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics allowing better understanding of the performance of the business - Experience writing complex SQL queries - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools - Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets Preferred Qualifications - Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift - Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
