Business Intelligence Analyst - Intermediate (Member Financials)

The Opportunity

As a dedicated Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be a critical part of the CFO Data Delivery and Automation team by helping to shape and deliver CFO’s Data and Analytics development of member financial data hub assets across all product lines and channels. This effort will help build financial strength for USAA by enabling member centric insights, profitability & distribution channel optimization analytics for strategic planning, decision-making, and performance monitoring. Additionally, you will identify financial and operational data sources and create business logic to transform into data assets for analytical consumption. 

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available.

What you'll do:

Participate in capturing complex business requirements by partnering with customers to define the business problem and data needs

Apply an intermediate understanding of multiple data structures and sources to lead the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions, which may include data visualization, data transformation, or data collection

Work closely with IT execution teams on the development of analytic infrastructures, data engineering, or related business intelligence efforts to include collaborating on the design and implementation of technical standards and governance practices

Apply data visualization best practices - often selecting the right data ‘tool for the job’ - to identify and interpret trends or patterns while following standard Enterprise branding

Understand the value of prototyping, usability, and the end-user experience to enhance the impact of the final data visualization product (dashboard, report, insight, or analysis)

Act as a trusted data visualization advisor to the stakeholder/end-user in order to drive business value

Influence relevant data, information, and application architecture decisions

Actively participate in industry, COE, or other discipline-relevant groups/panels to stay on top of industry trends and share best practices with team

Ensure risks associated with business activities are optimally identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures

What you have:

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science, etc; 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics, quantitative analytics, or related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree

4 years of experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the financial services industry OR an advanced degree in a quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science with 2 years experience in data/analytics or functional business experience within the financial services industry

Experience identifying and implementing innovative ways to address business problems and solutions

Experience developing business results that leverage business intelligence platforms, data management platforms, or SQL-based languages (Tableau, Business Objects, Snowflake, Sigma, Python, or related)

Proven track record of building business knowledge through partnerships at the individual contributor, leadership, and EMG levels

Advanced communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to all levels of management

Ability to embed intuitive story telling within business intelligence solutions

What sets you apart:

4+ years of experience coding in SQL and/or Python

Experience in financial services operations, including member segmentation and omni-channel interactions for both member assisted and digital channels

Familiarity with profitability drivers such as interest & non-interest income, premium income, cost of revenue, operational costs, and channel efficiencies

Experience with cost allocation methodologies and techniques (e.g., activity-based costing)

Experience gathering, redefining, and analyzing data across relational, non-relational databases, data lakes, or enterprise data warehouses

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $85,040.00 - $162,550.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
