The Supply Chain Analytics, WW Engineering team has an immediate need for a creative business intelligence engineer (BIE) with a passion for building systems that have a measurable impact. The right candidate will be innovative and technically versatile. You will have the opportunity to work with one of the largest and most complex warehouses in the world to gather insights using from across Amazon.
As a BIE, you should be an expert in the architecture of data warehouse solutions for the enterprise using multiple platforms. You should excel in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. Excellent business and communication skills are required to work with business analysts and data engineers to understand how best to design reporting and analytics data systems.
Key job responsibilities
• Apply mining, quantitative analysis, and statistical models to understand how our customers interact with us and identify ways to improve the customer experience and meet our goals
• Build scalable solutions and self-serve platforms that will provide insights to inform business decision making
• Optimizing the performance of business-critical queries and dealing with ETL job-related issues
• Gathering and understanding data requirements, working with the team to achieve high quality data ingestion and building systems that can process, transform, and store the data in various relational and non-relational stores
• Dive deeply into technical details (e.g., key dependencies, design choices, operability, etc.) with engineering teams and drive constructive technical discussions. Extracting and combining data from various heterogeneous data sources
• Build and evaluate end-to-end designs for strengths and weaknesses (quality, scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity, etc.)
• Create interactive visual dashboards with Tableau and QuickSight
• Write clear documentation, architecture documents and create an engineering roadmap
• Exploring and learning the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
A day in the life
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will work with stakeholders across supply chain managers, start-up execution managers and process engineers to understand their pain points in executing the equipment upgrade projects that they own. You will draft the capabilities required to solve their pain points, align them to the objectives and develop a timeline to deliver solutions.
You will test, run monitor and improve the solutions provided based on user input. Last but not least, you will continually seek new problems to solve to address business challenges faced by your stakeholder teams.
This is a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making within our organization. You will be responsible for leading the AMZL team's data and analytics initiatives, leveraging your expertise to extract valuable insights from complex supply chain data. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations, enabling our leadership to make informed strategic decisions.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience writing complex SQL queries
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
