Business Intelligence Product Owner

Join us and use your data expertise and analytical skills to drive evidence-based, timely decision making. **Position is full-time, HYBRID, and requires employees adapt a hybrid schedule in Dearborn, MI offices.** In essence, the GDI&A Ingestion Business Intelligence/Product Owner acts as a champion for data-driven initiatives, ensuring that valuable insights are generated, effectively communicated, and used to improve business outcomes. They are a blend of business strategist, project manager, and data advocate. Product Strategy & Vision: + Defining the product vision: + They articulate a clear vision for the data product or project, outlining its long-term goals and how it will contribute to the overall business strategy. This involves understanding market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs. Developing the product roadmap: + They create a prioritized roadmap outlining the features, functionalities, and timelines for delivering the product or project. This roadmap is often iterative and adapts based on feedback and market changes. + Market analysis and competitive research: + They stay abreast of industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to inform product strategy and ensure the product remains competitive and relevant. Defining key performance indicators (KPIs): + They identify the metrics that will measure the success of the product or project, such as user engagement, data accuracy, business impact, and return on investment (ROI). Project Management & Execution: Prioritization and backlog management: + They manage a backlog of features and improvements, prioritizing them based on business value, feasibility, and user needs. This often involves using agile methodologies like Scrum. Resource allocation: + They work with the GDI&A team to allocate resources (data scientists, engineers, analysts) effectively to ensure timely project completion. Stakeholder management: + They collaborate closely with various stakeholders across the organization, including business units, senior management, and the technical team, to gather requirements, communicate progress, and manage expectations. Requirement gathering and analysis: 1. They work with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements for the development team. Risk management: + They identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact the project's success, such as data quality issues, technical challenges, or delays. Communication and reporting: + They regularly communicate project status, progress, and challenges to stakeholders through reports, presentations, and meetings. Data & Analytics Focus: Data understanding and governance: + They have a strong understanding of the data landscape within the organization and ensure data quality, accessibility, and governance. Insight generation and interpretation: + They work with the data science team to interpret data insights and translate them into actionable recommendations for the business. Data visualization and storytelling: + They ensure that data insights are presented in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to stakeholders, often using visualizations and storytelling techniques. + Minimum: Bachelor degree in Analytics, Mathematics or related. + Preferred: Masters degree in Analytics, Mathematics or related. + 2+ years of exposure to cloud applications. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions. + Product management experience: Understanding of product development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and product strategy. + Project management skills: Ability to plan, organize, and execute projects effectively. + Excellent communication and presentation skills: Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. + Business acumen: Understanding of business processes, strategies, and the ability to align data products with business objectives. + Technical proficiency: While not necessarily a data scientist, a basic understanding of data analysis techniques and technologies is beneficial.
