The anticipated salary range for this role is between $205,000.00 and $275,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualification, experiences, and analysis of current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at time of hire. We are looking for a Business Manager who is a strategic thinker, excellent communicator, and adept at managing both high-level strategy and detailed execution. This role is seen as one of the CIO’s trusted partners in leading IT to become a business-oriented organization. The position is responsible for creating and managing a typical “Office of the CIO,” providing leadership for the cross-functional management of information and technology across the enterprise. This role will work on IT strategy, governance, performance management, project and program management, resource planning, and the definition of IT ways of working. The Business Manager focuses on ensuring that the IT organization "does the right things" through strategy and governance, as well as "doing things right" through organizational and operational model development and performance management. If you are passionate about driving organizational efficiency and supporting executive leadership, we have an exciting opportunity for you! **PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:** **Strategic Support:** + Assist the CIO in developing and executing the department’s strategic goals and business plans. + Ensure alignment of IT initiatives with the target state and influence investment drivers to achieve business objectives. + Support the development of short- and long-term strategic plans in support of product, market, sales and profitability objectives. **Management Routines:** + Establish and maintain effective management and reporting routines to ensure the CIO can focus on top priorities and strategy. + Drive cadence, calendars, and materials for team routines, including weekly leadership stand-ups, monthly extended leadership team meetings, and quarterly town halls. **Collaboration and Portfolio Management:** + Work closely with technology teams and other partners to build OKR dashboards and measure results. + Partner with the PMO to manage and oversee portfolio financials, status, and key watch-outs. **Workforce and Talent Strategy:** + Manage workforce planning, including talent calibration, location strategy, and staffing ratios. Oversee all aspects of headcount and staffing matters. + Formalize routines to track resources in terms of financials, talent development, and alignment to organizational KPIs. + Monitor the recruiting pipeline and the mix of staff and third-party contractors, ensuring a thriving culture of talent aligned with deliverables and investment levels. **Demand Management:** + Establish practices for Shared Services to understand demand and assess capacity to execute against expectations. + Create a centralized entry point for work requests and a methodology to allocate and track resource usage, providing data-driven responses to incremental requests. **Data Governance:** + Provide oversight and guidance to LDOs and serve as an escalation point for data governance issues, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. **Operating Routines:** + Ensure IT has proper, right-sized operating routines to facilitate communication and decision-making across the leadership team and stakeholders. + Manage executive-level reporting, including the CIO’s dashboard, and prepare influential presentations for the Management Committee and Executive Steering Committees. + Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. **POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:** + Bachelor’s degree required. + 10+ years of experience in financial services and/or technology services industry, with 5+ years of experience in senior leadership or executive roles. + Must have expertise in budget planning, financial management and workforce management. + Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. + Strong written communication and organizational skills. + Thorough attention to detail. + Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects. + Expert presentation skills, both in creating clear messaging and professional delivery. + Strong team-building skills. + Accessible and approachable. + Exceptional project management and organizational skills; a proven “closer.” + Highly collaborative with experience in leading and influencing teams and individuals across lines of business, functional areas, and various levels of an organization. + Courage to hold peers and others not directly in the reporting line accountable. **EOE STATEMENT** SMBC provides reasonable accommodations during candidacy for applicants with disabilities consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law.
