Business Manager Inpatient Ops - CMC - Huntsville

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

JOB SUMMARY:

Participates as a member of one or more multi-disciplinary management team managing a medical practice while delivering quality patient care and ensuring a customer service attitude among staff. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient business functions including the areas of human resources management, materials management, accounts payable management, ancillary services, facilities maintenance, and billing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Participates in group practice, clinical department, and hospital-wide programs affecting the delivery of care and business practices. Leads/participates, as appropriate, in collaborative team approaches to developing and enhancing and integrated system of care. Analyzes the performance (profitability and productivity) of department and makes recommendations for action. Assists in the recruitment of staff and support personnel and conducts regular reviews of staff performance. Handles personnel issues including hiring, scheduling or disciplinary issues. Performs cost analysis; identifies weak fiscal financial performance; recommends financial solutions and implements corrective action plans. Assists with developing the implementing of strategic, long, and short-term plans to assure fiscal solvency and accountability. Identifies appropriate internal controls for the department and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance with local, state, and national regulatory agencies. Interprets new and changing rules and regulations and ensures policies and procedures are up to date. Assists in the development and implementation of medical office or administrative policies related to the delivery of care and/or business practices of the medical practice as appropriate. Represents the clinical practice when meeting and working with other components of UTMB/TDCJ. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures established for department.  Performs related duties as required.

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration or Business Administration. Five (5) years experience in healthcare with supervisory/management experience.

Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
