Essential Duties:
Accounting Experience
Process cash and credit card transactions to appropriate expense accounts and reconcile statements to the accounting records monthly Account for fixed asset transactions and related depreciation Process accounts payable invoices Prepare journal entries for entry into accounting software Prepare payroll journal entries and related accounting Prepare 1099 forms for clients at year end Analyze and prepare client financial statements and analyze cost trends for accuracy Interact with client staff to gain information, documents, and data necessary to complete assigned tasks Educate and train clients in proper accounting techniques Communicate client issues to supervisor or partner on the job Communicate with clients and clients' contacts including payroll companies, banks and vendors Assist with training and support of other firm staff members as needed Develop individualized systems & relationships with clients based upon clients' needs Handle other special projects/tasks as required
Tax Experience
Plan, review and prepare tax returns for closely held businesses and their owners, including C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships and Trusts. Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client’s businesses Work closely with Tax Partners and Principals to satisfy the needs with tax planning and preparation Understand firm risk on tax services performed and communicate accordingly to management Provide supervision, training, and guidance to other tax associates Experience analyzing and resolving tax notices with federal and state tax authorities Stay current on new tax legislation Solid working knowledge of Tax preparation software (for ex.: CCH Engagement, CCH Axcess Tax and BNA Tax Planner)
Qualifications:
5+ years accounting and/or tax experience QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online experience preferred Experience with other accounting platforms a plus Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred Working to or aspires to obtain CPA a plus Detail oriented, organized with strong communication skills Strong analytical skills. Able to analyze financial data and transactions and use judgement skills to account for transactions properly Always focused on improvement implementation Flexibility to change direction frequently between tasks and between different clients; ability to prioritize Ability to meet project deadlines Ability to adjust schedule based on peak workload times in the department Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment Ability to recognize and protect confidential and sensitive information and exercise strict discretion when disseminating or sharing information Positive energy and professionalism
