Business Strategy Lead
Overview:

Provides high level analytical expertise in the design, development, and communication of long-term strategies in pursuit of business goals. Works closely with business and functional experts from other teams; convenes teams to accomplish goals. Influences peers on surrounding teams.

Primary Responsibilities:Participate in the planning and implementation of new products, programs and initiatives to achieve short and long-term business objectives and strategic outcomes. Support development of project roadmaps and plans.Provide analytical support for critical Bank-wide or divisional projects that may include planning, design and analysis of results, develop comprehensive documentation to align with regulatory expectations as needed, analysis of complex data sets, or analysis/optimization of data structures. Apply critical thinking to independently navigate problems/issues.Develop and produce complex ad hoc and automated departmental analyses and reports (incl. workflow analysis, project analysis, trend reporting, strategic analysis, other…). Ability to synthesize large volumes of qualitative and quantitative information for analysis and decision making.Coordinate discussions/ agenda development of regular conference calls and in-person meetings of with external peers or industry groups, agencies and select US officials to share best practices and promote industry advocacy efforts.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory / Managerial Responsibilities:

Work leadership responsibilities. May indirectly manage other team members as it relates to specific projects.

Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/or work experienceStrong attention to detail; ability to work independently and function as a member of a teamStrong analytical ability and creative problem-solving skills; strong interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships within and outside the organization; strong written, and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated, results driven, and well organized; ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time constraints in support of various assignmentsHighly proficient with personal computers and spreadsheet, database, graphing, and presentation software

           

Education and Experience Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration and 5 years of relevant work experienceExperience with financial analysis, regulatory analysis, process analysis and technical writing.  Audit or Consulting experience.Develops area of expertise; understands broader organizational goals; asks probing questions; experiments; overcomes obstaclesExpands contribution within department; engages others in problem solving; presents views clearly; functions at a high level across diverse groups; empatheticDefines positive direction for change; persuades others to support ideas; solicits customer feedbackCreates options for addressing problemsPrioritizes employee engagement/development; holds team members accountable; provides specific feedback

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
