Business Sys Analyst

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Business Systems Analyst reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for the configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of financial information systems.  The position works at resolving system issues and is accountable for the development of basic application and system specifications, systems testing and the implementation of software releases.  

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Analyze and oversee financial system performance and identify potential issues requiring intervention.
2.    Plan and coordinate implementation of changes and enhancement to existing financial software systems.
3.    Assist in the successful planning, configuration, and implementation of new financial software applications.
4.    Assure adequate documentation of system procedures, policies, and routines to support on-going utilization of systems.
5.    Consult with vendor resources on systems ensuring maximal system utilization and operations.
6.    Serve as communication liaison between system users and ITS to explore information system needs and to identify and define areas of improvement.
7.    Assist in the research and development of detailed specifications for new software applications as requested.
8.    Meet Joint Commission and other accrediting agency requirements in the areas of training, education, and use of financial applications.
9.    Provide assistance in the development of programs, reports, and queries to support on-going and ad hoc reporting needs of the organization.
10.    Remain current on healthcare industry trends, financial software and applications, technology trends and training.
11.    Assure projects and assignments are completed in a timely manner.
12.    Provide input for Information Technology Services budgeting and planning.
13.    With assistance of the technical support team, assure system back-ups, data continuity and disaster recovery procedures and policies are developed and effectively implemented.
14.    Assure information shared between financial and clinical systems and applications is accurate and that data transfers are free of errors and omissions.
15.    Coordinate communication between vendors and users on system changes, enhancements, and issues.
16.    Develop training curriculum content in cooperation with departmental users and Education Department. Must be able to conduct formal training sessions and one-to-one training as needed.
17.    Monitor vendor maintenance and support tickets for all assigned systems for timely and thorough resolution of problems escalating issues as necessary through vendor and supervisor.
18.    Provide routine updates to supervisor and other team members about outstanding issues, updates, and trends.
19.    Provide assistance to help desk staff on issues related to assigned applications.

21.    Provide on-call support when required for all financial application systems. Provide weekend and night support to Information Technology Services on a rotational or emergency basis.

4.    Effectively participates in strategic and tactical planning process as it relates to the enhancement of and use of technology solutions in an effort to streamline operational processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.    Bachelor's degree in related field or Associate’s degree with 2 years’ experience.  
2.    1+ year experience as Information Technology Analyst.
3.    Successful project management experience.
4.    Excellent customer relations skills.
5.    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.    Familiarity with Microsoft SQL, report writing tools, and Health Level 7 (HL7) interfaces.
2.    Previous analyst experience in healthcare system applications support.
3.    BMC system application software experience including Meditech and GE
4.    Familiar with Information Technology Joint Commission survey and regulations.
