Business Systems Analyst

JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
The Business Analyst will work under the direction of the Business Systems Management Officer and will help to gather, analyze, and present data for departmental needs and management decisions pertaining to retail loan operations. In addition, the position will play a major contributing role in the oversight of process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and system integrations, all to ensure that retail loan operations and data reporting adhere to the highest standards of integrity and excellence.
The position is responsible for assisting with or helping to lead a wide variety of projects and executing the steps necessary to ensure the successful completion and implementation of assigned projects. The Business Analyst will also learn various aspects of loan servicing from the ground up to provide ongoing support and backup to the operations analysts and management teams.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field (Business Administration, Information Management, Statistics, Finance, etc.), or commensurate experience required.
Strong analytical and research skills are required, along with the ability to problem-solve and to work with internal and external customers for timely and accurate resolution of issues.
Must have excellent mathematical skills, including a sound knowledge of banking financial calculations (i.e., amortizations, interest rate and payment calculations, etc.).
Working knowledge and understanding of retail loan principles; loan servicing experience is preferred.
Candidates with Sagent LoanServ platform preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI.
Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word (testing will be administered)
Should be driven and self-motivated, able to manage time efficiently and work independently with minimal supervision.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have strong propensity for detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Must be professional and courteous with internal and external customers.
Overtime may be required, as needed.
Minimal travel may be required.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES and DUTIES:
As requested by management or various business units, transform raw data into understandable analytics reports, visual dashboards, etc.
Analyze data for trends, exceptions, and inconsistencies to provide management with insights and recommendations that will improve retail loan servicing operations.
Participate in the conversion of long-standing system reports to newer, modern, useful data reports.
Review, implement, or maintain controls and best practices as they relate to data quality and validity, in order to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability thereof.
Keep informed on industry tools, trends, and practices for data reporting and analytics.
Gain an understanding and assist with the flow of system loan data to various end users (i.e. printed statements, electronic statements, online banking portal, branch network, enterprise data warehouse, etc.)
Participate in the liaising between retail loan systems and data with ongoing Salesforce integrations
Utilize a script authoring tool to create and enhance automation within the loan servicing platform.
Work and communicate with outside vendors as needed to ensure the success of system relationships
Evaluate processes and recommend changes to create automation, improve efficiencies, reduce costs, or standardize practices.
Collaborate with retail loan business units to review and evaluate business systems, data initiatives, department objectives, and various user needs.
Support the development of projects through research, data collection and analysis, and collaboration with project teams.
Analyze, develop, implement, deploy, or maintain programs/projects resulting from regulations, product development, industry trends, operational needs, etc.
Help to develop and maintain project goals, schedules, communications, procedures, and reports, both within the company and with outside entities, as applicable
Arrange and/or conduct testing needed to ensure the accurate and effective implementation of projects and requests, ensuring that the proper outcomes are achieved.
Learn and understand retail loan servicing, being available to troubleshoot both system and loan-level issues as they arise.
Participate in case/ticket management for issues in which internal or external assistance is needed.
Assist as needed with data analysis and tasks pertaining to payment activities, rate changes, fund disbursement, etc.
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, agency, and internal policies, procedures, and legal considerations.
