MITRE is seeking a Business Systems Engineer to support a growing and diverse portfolio of sponsors within MITRE’s Treasury, Economics, and Commerce Division. This position will primarily support MITRE’s engagements with the U.S. Census Bureau and requires a blend of technical, business process, and operational design experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Business Systems Engineer you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and will participate in the following activities:
Provide decennial census-specific subject matter expertise, research, analysis, and implementation assistance around program/business architecture to support planning, design, development, testing, integration, and communication of the overall operational design for the 2030 census as well as the detailed operational designProvide consultation, research, and guidance, based on best practices, subject matter expertise and strategic alignment, to support the ongoing modernization, management and development of business and stakeholder requirementsDevelop business process models and recommend process improvements.Perform analysis to ensure that processes are aligned with desired business/mission strategies and objectives.Provide recommended improvements to the processes supporting the development of requirements, including providing research, analysis, modeling, and documentation.Analyze system components and determine areas of needed integration.Contribute to the development of products, such as concept of operations, analysis of alternatives, roadmaps, playbooks, and visual dashboards.Develop presentations that translate and communicate concepts effectively.Research leading practices, methodologies, tools, and techniques.Participate in department, division, and corporate-wide relationship-building opportunities and learning and development programs.Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience with the Census BureauExpertise in one or more of the following: Business Architecture, Program Architecture and Integration, Requirements Engineering and Development, and Simulation ExperimentsThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-siteRequires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience specifically with decennial census operationsUnderstanding of Enterprise Architecture and Solution ArchitectureProficiency in modeling with Microsoft VisioExperience interacting with senior government officialsExperience facilitating sessions with multiple stakeholders, and eliciting information for analysis purposesExperience leading small teams.Troubleshooting and analytical skillsGood communication and collaboration skillsLean Six Sigma, Certified Business Analysis Professional, and/or other process related credentialsCertification in an Enterprise Architecture FrameworkKnowledge of the Generic Activity Model for Statistical Organization (GAMSO)This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
