OMF / SUPPORT SERVICES GROUP 1
This position is in Support Services Group 1 within the Office of Management and Finance. This position is domiciled at the Headquarters Office in East Baton Rouge Parish.
This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or by promotion of a permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Business Technology Analyst 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. No Civil Service test is required in order to be considered for this vacancy. This position will be filled using the generic option.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
An associate’s degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus one year of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A master’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Differs from Business Technology Analyst 2 by the absence of experienced-level tasks relative to business technology activities that are outside of the scope of the Office of Technology Services.

Business technology activities are those that focus on translating the business needs of the agency that support its mission and objectives into technical solutions. At this level, incumbents gain knowledge of information technology assets from both user and technical perspectives.
Under close supervision, conducts technical analyses of agency initiatives, business processes, and/or information technology systems to assist in providing innovative technical solutions to meet user needs.
Provides results of analyses to higher-level business technology personnel to use in consultation with agency users, as well as applications, information security, and/or technical support project teams.
Analyzes and tests proposed technology solutions to determine if business needs will be met and prepares related documentation.
May observe higher level business technology personnel in meetings with various stakeholders; gains an understanding of how business process changes affect applications development, information security, and other technical activities.
Communicates with users to informally explain technology changes as it relates to the agency's operations.
Learns to conduct project analyses relative to technology initiatives, business processes, and/or systems.
Provides training to users relative to the assigned technology.
Serves as liaison between programmatic staff and technical staff to facilitate project completion.
