Job Description:

About the Role: 

The Business Unit Manager has P&L responsibility for the Broth category within the larger food & beverage business unit portfolio. The BU Manager is responsible for defining overall strategy to meet new and diverse customer requirements, establishing a clear vision and growth plan for the business, achieving category financial goals, supporting operation and supply chain efficiencies, and driving category product development by leveraging consumer insights.  You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to: 

 

Executing the annual business objectives, strategy and tactics for the Broth category, working closely with Director and leading cross-functional teams; assisting in the development of mid and long-term strategic business planning 

Owning private label category product assortment, product life cycle and monitoring national brand changes. Identifying innovation, price-pack architecture, and value propositions for the product category. Responsible for the development guardrails for RDI team and building compelling stories for Sales using syndicated data analysis. 

Analyzing category for competitive strengths and weaknesses, identifying growth opportunities and defense strategies as needed. Tracking competitive efforts and recommending adjustments to changing market conditions 

Leveraging and influencing the sales organization to manage customer relationships and influence key go-to-market tactics (pricing, merchandising, shelving, and assortment) 

Managing and driving business simplification and cost improvement efforts, including development of continuous improvement initiatives and activities to mitigate DDD 

Driving accountability cross functionally for quality and service, prioritizing portfolio for optimal vol/mix and delivering to customers best-in-class category season execution  

 

About You: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field 

8 years of experience in business, food manufacturing preferred, private label optimal  

Exposure to and understanding of multiple business disciplines (Purchasing, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, Logistics, R&D, etc.) in previous positions preferred 

Strong project management and communication skills to lead and influence cross-functional project teams 

Demonstrated understanding of business fundamentals including P&L management, pricing, and trade strategy 

Expert in Excel (pivot table, vlookup, equations, formatting), Powerpoint presentation building, Circana IRI data system. Fluency in SAP a plus.
